Topic: Write an essay on the topic “Ways to control stress”

It seems that people are easily feel helpless when they confront with too
much tension. The work pressure, academic pressure or family responsibilities
have been surrounding them for a long time. Stress is something inevitable,
which can not be completely cured. However, people can control stress more
than they have ever thought. In fact, controlling life is a basis for controlling
stress. No matter how stressful are their lives, people can relieve pressure as
well as regain control of the stress by following three steps.

The first step is to clearly define the purposes of each person’s life. Goals
will generate positive attitudes. Therefore, people can adjust their thinking
methods towards an optimistic trend of development and escape themselves
from the stress of being forced doing something with no interest. Besides, goals
help people find out the meaning and the value of what they are doing so that
they can be single-minded of their works with an enthusiastic and dynamic
spirit. Mark Divine, an expert in human performances, states, “By laying out
the blueprints for your future, you allow yourself tighter control and thus
eliminate stress throughout your conquest. Your actions and obstacles no
longer become singular or isolated, but part of the entire journey of your
success.” (part. 11). Moreover, people can set goals not only in career but also
in relationships, creativity, play and health to frequently create motivation and
passion in order to control the tension.

In addition to goal setting, physical activities also help people control their
stress, which plays an important role to keep the mood from being depressed or
pessimistic. The best thing would be to exercise regularly for 30 minutes or
more with some simple ways. For instance, they can turn on music and dance;
walk or bike to the park; play sports or play mimic warfare with their children,
etc. Furthermore, doing exercises helps bodies produce “endorphins”, which
makes people feel better and think less about the problems they are worried
about every day. Jellian Levy, a member of Dr.Axe team, declared,
“[Endorphins] keep you feeling motivated to accomplish tasks, connected to
others and calmer in the face of stress or adversity.” (part. 9).

Finally, it may surprise some people to learn that let’s accept what they can
not change. According to Therapy Charlotte blog, “By realizing and accepting
that there will always be ups and downs in life, one must release all the things
that cannot change and now there is room to focus on only the things that
actually can be different. Nothing is left but a world of possibility!” (Saunders,
part. 4). Therefore, do not control things that are out of control because there
are many stressful situations that people can not bury their heads in the sand or
alter them into blessings, namely the behaviour of others. Instead of feeling
stressed out, people can focus on the ways to react a problem. Be positive,
learn to forgive and try to accept that we are living in imperfect world in which
everyone can make mistakes. Since then, people can free themselves from
negative situations by forgiving and moving towards the good things ahead.
Besides, being around trusted and amicable people can help ease stress.
Sharing is the best way which help people feel a sense of relief as well as be
distracted from negative thoughts.

In conclusion, one thing is certain that stress will often appear as an

integral part of lives. Throughout a human life, there are times people have to
face it, and do not wait until it appears that try to overpower it. Prevention is
better than cure. Therefore, people should learn to control stress before it
governs their lives. By following three steps above, which are (1) goal setting,
(2) physical activities, (3) acceptance, people will be somewhat in control of
stress and make their lives become better and better.
