● Personal Objectives: Students will gain a more clear understanding of the specific
animal habitat
● Essential Question: How can we use text to answer questions based on a specific animal
habitat?
● Materials: Chromebooks, Habitat worksheet, PowerPoint Presentation, SmartBoard,
DocCam, Pencils, crayons/markers/colored pencils
● Accommodations: For students needing accommodations, individualized attention will
be provided during worksheet activity.
● DAP: By combining both academic skills and art skills, students use both sides of their
brain and are fully engaged.
Phase I
Students will join the teacher on the front carpet for whole group discussion. As the first slide of
the PowerPoint is presented, students will have the opportunity to discuss what they believe a
habitat is with their peers. After conversation, the teacher will give the definition of habitat and
ask if there is anything that anyone wants to add to the discussion.
Phase III
By completing this worksheet as a small group and using each other as resources, students have
an opportunity to understand new materials on a social level. This conversation will serve as
additional review while giving the students an opportunity to interact with their peers. Students
will complete the worksheet and early finishers will color their drawings. Once the student is
finished, they will begin Reading Workshop.
