ACTIVITY DESIGN

Title of Activity : Provincial Rabies Summit 2018

I. Rationale

Rabies continues to be a public health problem in the Philippines, highly fatal viral disease
killing 200-300 Filipinos per year.

Rabies can spread from animals to human. It’s contagious, the disease is transmitted when the
virus, which is present in the saliva of an infected animal penetrates the skin usually through
a bite. The prevention of rabies infection - is through administration of anti-rabies vaccines.
The Department of Health, having committed to the prevention of human rabies deaths
provides free vaccines for post-exposure treatment, but it was inadequate due to increasing
victims of animal bite seeking consultations.

The, Provincial Health Office in coordination with Provincial Veterinary Office will conduct a Fun
Dog Show in order to strengthen the implementation of R A 9482 with the participation of pet
owners to promote responsible pet ownership. The theme for Rabies Awareness Month –“ Makiisa
sa barangayan kontra rabies, maging responsableng pet owner.”

II. Objectives
A. General:
1. To present animal bite victims seen and managed in three(3) Animal Bite
Treatment Centers.
2. To disseminate information in the new management of animal bite.

B. Specific
At the end of the activity the participants will be able to:
1. Pet owners will learn their roles and responsibilities in raising dogs.
2. Pet owners will learn what to do when they are bitten by their pets.
3. Know the Animal Bite Treatment Centers and its location.

III. Operational Details :

Venue: Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Grounds, Tubod, Lanao del Norte
Date: March 16, 2019
Total Participants: 80
Proposed Budget: Php 8,000.00 ( 1 snacks)
Fund Source: General Fund

IV. Budgetary Requirements :

 PM Snacks: 80 x Php 100.00 = 8,000.00
