Abstract: The aim of this document is to show the Data Center´s back up performed with an existing customer ATS BY MENDOZA GUZMAN FERNANDO

CMP system description:

The Data Center´s back up, originally equipped with a 350 kwe genset, needed to be reinforced by two new cummins 2 X
600 kwe. On that occasion the existing customer ATS was fully integrated to the new electrical system. Basic control
philosophy was changed from break before make to made before break

The system is basically in an automatic mode so in case of mains failure, generators start and loads are connected. After
the mains recovers, generators reverse synchronize back to the mains, unload and stop.

Possible operating states:

1) In normal state, when both mains are OK, Tie Breaker is opened and each load is powered from its corresponding
main.

2) When both mains fail, the system starts both generating sets and power up its load separately, when both mains
returns, each generating set synchronizes, closes its MCB, transfer load to the mains open BGB, cools down the
engines and stop them. The system goes to the normal state.

3) When both mains fail, the system starts both generating sets and power up its load separately, if any generating set
fail, the system will close the Tie Breaker and remains there until the failed generator become available or the mains
from failed generator set returns.
If the mains from healthy generator become available the Tie Breaker will open, the generating set synchronizes, closes
its MCB, transfer load to the mains open BGB, cools down the engine and stops it, with just one mains available the Tie
Breaker will close and healthy mains will supply both loads

4) If failed mains returns, Tie Breaker is opened and each load is powered from its corresponding main. The system goes
to the normal state
