FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

FOR DESIGN, INSTALLATION AND USE

This standard applies to design, installation and the use of fire extinguishing
system equip projects (factory, enterprise, store, office, house … etc)

1. Term and Definition:

1.1 Fire extinguishing system is general specialized technology equipments,

piping and fire extinguishing substance stamp out the fire.

1.2 Fixed fire extinguishing system is fixed installation fire extinguishing

system.

1.3 Semifixed fire extinguishing system is fixed part installation fire

extinguishing system, when fire extinguishing connects fully worked-out
for remainder.

1.4 Automatic fire extinguishing system is automatic control system when fire
occurrence.

1.5 Manual fire extinguishing system is manual control system.

1.6 Fire extinguishing system for volume make environment not maintenance
fire in volume need fire extinguishing.

1.7 Fire extinguishing system for surface use hermetically sprays over surface
fire substance.

1.8 Fire extinguishing system for water stamp out the fire by water.

1.9 Fire extinguishing system for foam stamp out the fire by foamer.

2. Fire classification:

2.1 Fire is conditional upon state of fire and material fire, fire classify 4 types:
solid fire: A; liquid fire: B; gas fire: C; metal fire: D. Each kind divide group
ensure high effect when use fire extinguishing system.

2.3 Kinds of fire symbol help people use equipments, extinguishing tool
accordance with kinds of fire. Each fire extinguishing equipment, tool
sticks kinds of fire symbol follow stipulation. Kinds of fire symbol stipulate
in table 2:

3. Requirement for design

3.1 When design fire extinguishing system foundation kinds of fire, property of
fire and fire mass in project and fire extinguishing effect of systems.

3.2 Fire extinguishing system includes:

 Alert section
 Control section

 Supply, reserve section for fire extinguishing substance

 Distribution section for fire extinguishing and sprayhead
 Pipeline section
 Electricity supply section

Manual and semifixed fire extinguishing system permit diminished each

section not essential in system.

3.3 When design fire extinguishing system ensure flow of fire extinguishing
substance. Flow of fire extinguishing substance conditional kinds of fire
extinguishing substance, fire substance, area and volume need fire
extinguishing.

3.4 Fire extinguishing system ensures enough pressure move fire

extinguishing to fire place.

3.5 Reserve supply section for fire extinguishing substance ensures regular
activity and reserve quantity accordance with each kind of fire
extinguishing system follow Vietnamese Standard 2622 : 1978 and
Vietnamese Standard 5307 : 1991.

3.6 Distribution section for fire extinguishing substance, sprayhead ensures

hermetically spray over surface fire substance, fire extinguishing area and
percent rate require when volume fire extinguishing.

3.7 When use sprayhead accordance with each kind fire extinguishing
system.

3.8 Alert section ensures normal activity. When fire extinguishing give the
alarm.

3.9 Electricity supply section ensures enough energy supply for fire
extinguishing system activity.

3.10 When deign fire extinguishing system for project need factors below:

 Structure explanation and activities principle of system.

 Technical parameters.
 Calculation document and determine technical parameters.
 Guidance paper test function of system and instruction maintain
technology.
 Technical drawing.

3.11 When design fire extinguishing system considers characteristic structure

of project ensure effect use.

3.12 Only design DRENCHER fire extinguishing system for project has height
of ceiling or roof from 10 meter to bottom.

3.13 RENCHER fire extinguishing system design for project but no limit height
of ceiling or roof. When design DRENCHER fire extinguishing system
divide into regions so that avoidance for fire extinguishing spread far and
wide.

3.14 When design fire extinguishing system for foamer, air consider possibility
of elimination exhaust fumes in order to unnecessary pressure in project.

3.15 Reserve supply section for fire extinguishing design inside project or
outside conditional on specific condition for project.

4. Requirement for installation

4.1 Only installation or change to fire extinguishing system follows approved

design document by fire regulations department.

4.2 When install fire extinguishing system, equipments sure hermetically, the
best endurance has systems contain fire extinguishing substance to have
pressure.

4.3 Supply section, reserve for fire extinguishing substance outside have lean-
to shelter from the rain or sun.

4.4 After completion installation for fire extinguishing system conduct an

experiment, quality evaluation and technical parameter for system and
take notes acceptance report.

5. Requirement for use

5.1 Only permission operates fire extinguishing systems sure quality and
technical parameter follow design.

5.2 Each fire extinguishing system has record book to information for this
system. The record book for operator maintenance and take note.

5.3 Fire extinguishing system maintains periodic technology follow

manufacture’s instructions for use.

In case of repair, spare-part when problem or breakdown put into effect

faithfully following instruction for use.

5.4 After fire extinguishing system use fire extinguishing or practice, governing
body quickly spareness, repair (if necessary).

5.5 The operator for fire extinguishing system has professional skill and grasp
of operation process follow manufacture’s instructions for use.

5.6 The operator always tests ready possibility for fire extinguishing system
following manufacture’s instructions for use and other relation documents.
When discovery breakdown report on persons concerned and surmount.

5.7 The maintainer for technology, repair or spare parts of fire extinguishing
system has professional skill and relation office decide.
