Self-Assessment Score Sheet

1. DiSC- Self Assessment – Discovery: (In Class Guest Speaker)

The DiSC Self-Assessment was by far my favorite personality test I have taken. I believe
the thought that was put into creating this test was pure genius. My two highest parts of
DiSC were influence and steadiness. Influence has an emphasis on shaping the
environment by influencing or persuading often. On the other hand, steadiness has an
emphasis on cooperating with others within existing circumstances to carry out the task.
On page 8 of the booklet, I found it interesting to see the three terms above and three
terms below each of my numbered results for DiSC. My main terms were weighs pros
and cons, persuasive, deliberate, and rebellious. After a series of steps, I was able to come
to the conclusion that my profile pattern was “Counselor Pattern.” The goal of this
pattern is friendship and happiness, which are the two things that I value most in life. It is
listed that my fears are pressuring people and being accused of causing harm, which are
both extremely accurate.

2. Leadership Matrix Survey – Discovery:

After answering a series of 18 questions, half regarding people and the other tasks, I was
able to locate myself on the matrix. With a score of 5.6 for both people and tasks I fall
slightly above “Middle of the Road.” On the website it is stated that the middle of the
chart represents that with more experience and skills, I can display good team leadership.
Being that I was 0.6 to the right and above middle of the road, technically the two lines
intersect at “Team Leadership.” I would agree that I need more experience in order to get
stronger regarding both tasks and people skills.

3. Leadership Self-Assessment – Discovery:

Similarly, after completing the leadership self-assessment questionnaire consisting of 50

questions, my score translated to “you are getting close.” Any score from 124-174 was
considered getting close to becoming a leader and having the ability to perform the tasks
required of a leader. My score of 136 represents that I definitely have room for
improvement when it comes to becoming a leader. As long as I continue to improve my
strengths, develop my skills and abilities, and improve my weaknesses, I will be that
much closer to becoming a leader.
4. Your Leadership Legacy Assessment – Discovery:

Next, I took the leadership legacy assessment to identify my instinctive leadership style.
My results showed that I had the characteristics of six different types of leaders including
ambassador, advocate, people mover, truth-seeker, creative builder, and experienced
guide. The three that were all tied for the highest match were advocate, people mover,
and experienced guide. An advocate is one who instinctively acts as the spokesperson in
a group. Additionally, people movers instinctively take the lead in building teams. They
generally have large contact lists, which I definitely relate to. Lastly, experienced guides
are natural therapists; my friends and co-workers typically come to me for advice, so this
leadership style makes sense.

5. Emotional Competencies Ranking – Discovery:

The fourth and final online self-assessment was the Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
Quiz. For this quiz it was required that I answer 17 questions about myself and the
rest about my perceptions of my manager. My quiz results were that I have slightly
above average EQ. There is still room to grow though. The test mentioned that I am
aware of the effect my behavior has on others. On top of that, I am likely sensitive to
the emotional climate of the people around me when we are under pressure. The quiz
notified me that if I can learn to be more aware of when emotions are driving my
behavior and stay calm in high pressure moments, then I will see a big increase in my
EQ, which will lead to increased performance and more effective relationships.

6. Summary of your Self Discovery:

In summation, according to a combination of all five self-assessments, it is evident that I

must enhance my skills and have a little more experience before coming a leader. My
emotional intelligence is higher than average, but I need to learn how to pressure others
and not be afraid to hurt others feelings when necessary. I should not take criticism
personally. It makes sense that my major is HR management, since I am effective at
solving people’s problems. According to the assessments, I could use a little work on
setting and meeting realistic deadlines and taking initiative to complete tasks. A few
words that stuck out to me from the DiSC assessment (both positive and negative) were
enthusiastic, realistic, emotional, impulsive, amiable, and stubborn. After scratching off
these terms, it became evident to me that throughout my life, both work-life and personal-
life, these traits have all impacted me. If I can learn to improve both my strengths and
weaknesses while taking advantage of my opportunities, I will be on the right path to
becoming a leader!
