Murder Book

Reader’s
This is the 16th book in the Alex Delaware mys-
teries. I liked this book more than some of its
predecessors because it actually showed Dr. Alex
Delaware to be vulnerable and not as smug and

Corner perfect as usual.

Alex Delaware, L.A. psychologist, and LAPD
Lt. Milo Sturgis, investigate a 20 year old murder.
Delaware receives a 'murder book' in the mail..
BY LENORE He and the police detective he consults with will
be taken on a twenty year journey into the past.
VELCOFF Janie Ingalls was 17 years old when she died
and her murderers were never found. Three oth-
er people disappeared around the same time (a
drug dealer named Willie Burns, a mentally chal-
lenged girl named Caroline Cossack, and Janie's
BF Melinda Waters). Are they dead too? Milo and
Alex decide to investigate since the circumstanc-
es around the mystery 20 years ago were weird.
I kind of liked the flashback to Milo's entry into
the L.A. police department and the investigation
into this old case. You quickly learn that there
was a cover-up, but the mystery is why.
The reader gains an appreciation for the diffi-
cult career that Milo endured as a gay detective
before society became more accepting. The fact
that the novel focuses on Milo instead of on Alex
is one of the books most compelling features. I
liked that this was a Milo-centric book and it
brought me back to the start of his career.
The plot did get a little convoluted but was in-
triguing nonetheless. I haven’t read a Kellerman
book in a long time. Either I've surpassed what
he has to offer or I am a little tired of who-done-
its. However, this is a good, quick read.
