Around the cable
Hot treatment
In order to ensure the maximum malleability of materials during funnel shaped insulating sleeve
the crimping operations all copper terminals undergo a hot
treatment with forced ventilation and controlled temperature.
3
Surface treatment
1 2
The crimp terminals are treated with processes of electrolytic
tin plating. This method guarantees the maximum adhesion of
tin to the crimp terminal surface in order to reduce the electri- 4
cal resistance to a minimum and to maximalize the protection 5
against corrosion.
6
Insulation
The standard models are available with insulation in special
7
self-extinguishing PVC or in Nylon and in colours according to
International Standards. The high quality of the insulation
materials employed for all crimp terminals ensure a high
degree of resistance to the mechanical solicitations that they
must undergo during the crimping operations without alteration
of their insulation characterictics.

These shrinkable connectors are an insulated connecting element for the production of cable connections and circuit points. Their outstanding properties are
based on the use of a Polyolefin shrinkable tube, which is coated with a special adhesive on the inside, which protects the metal crimp connections from
29
environmental influences. These connectors or terminal clamps are used wherever a reliable connection is needed under severe environmental conditions.
The shrinkable connectors of the HAUPA-SHRINK series combine crimp technology with the completely waterproof shrink technology in one part:
30
crimp first – then shrink and make waterproof!
USE: To create simple, durable and weatherproof electrical connections. Particularly suitable well as in the motor vehicle, agricultural machinery and commercial 31
vehicle sector.
SPECIAL FEATURE: The fusible inside adhesive cover provides excellent durability and is safer than traditional connectors. 32
SUITABLE FOR MAKING WATERPROOF CONNECTIONS: • Shrink ratio 3:1• Shrink temperature: >+125°C • Temperature resistance: -55°C to + 125°C
• Insulating sleeve: Polyolefin with inside adhesive • Non-halogen • RoHS conform • No additional insulating and sealing required • Waterproof splice connection 33
• Space-saving and compact • Extremely high strain relief • Easy installation • Full visual testing possible
INSTRUCTIONS: The connector is crimped and then shrunk using a hot air blower (with deflector page 101). 34
The connection Check whether the fusible inside adhesive comes out on the sides to ensure optimal tightness.

1. The choice of the connector Tubular terminals
In order to obtain a connection that can be guaranteed for a long time 3
it is necessary to select the connectors suitable to the application field
and strictly conform to the section of the cable to be crimped. 4
In the large range of Haupa products you will certainly find the ideal
solution for every requirement.
5
6
2. Stripping Copper tinned
Every crimping operation requires first that the cable is stripped with- 7
out deforming the wires. with sight hole

4. Assembling
a) Fit the connector to the cable with a round section in the complete 21
lenght of the stripped area.
b) Verify that there are no wires outside the connector. If you need to

bare
use sectoral cables you must arrange a previous rounding crimping 23
operation of the cable.

5. Choice of the crimping tool 28
All dies and punchings of the Haupa crimp system guarantee a high 29
degree of connection between connector and cable. Exercise the crim-

ping operation as shown in drawing 1 on the terminals and as drawing 30
2 on the butt connectors. The elevated pressure exerted by dies on ter-
minals cause a uniform deformation on the whole crimping area. 31

Please note!
All static and dynamic forces are 26
concentrated in a single central
hub. This allows a very easy 27
assembly and disassembly at
the end of the use period. As a 28
result, the preconditions for an
environmentally-friendly device 29
are maintained. In the middle,
the tool has a practical and 30
simple shelf compartment for
accessories. 31
