SIBLING RIVALRY RELATIONS WITH EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT


DISTRICT CHILDREN IN THE VILLAGE WONOKOYO BEJI
PASURUAN 2015

Sibling rivalry is one form as a result of births that are too close distance
between two or more children. That is because the lack of attention and affection
from their parents. Monitoring children's emotional development today is very
important because the emotional development of a child to know there is an
emotional or mental disorder. But there are still many people who do not know the
toddler's emotional development assessment. The purpose of this study was to
determine the relationship between sibling rivalry with the emotional development
of children.

This type of research is analytic with cross sectional approach. In this study
there were 35 population, and the sample using total sampling technique by taking
all members of the population who have children with the age range of 1-3 years as
many as 35 people. The collection of data by using a questionnaire and KMME.
Analysis of data using cross distribution tables and statistical test Chi Square to
know there is a relationship or not.

Research results obtained from 35 respondents, the majority of babies


experiencing sibling rivalry as many as 21 infants (60%), while children who
experience mental emotional problems as much as 22 infants (62.9%). With α =
0.05 was obtained X ² count> X table that 23.52> 3.84, which means there is a
relationship between sibling rivalry with the emotional development of children.

Based on these results it is suggested to health workers, especially midwives


can provide education on good parenting and monitoring the children's emotional
development so that no emotional mental problems.
