Inquisitorial -A Law Quiz

Legal Aid Society, University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh
invites students from various colleges of the north region including the departments and regional
centers of Panjab University to test their knowledge in the field of law by competing against each
other in a Legal Quiz and win Cash prizes. Not only can the students of legal field participate,
but it is open to students of all fields.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 Only team entries of 2 members each are allowed.


 The quiz will be held centrally and is open to all the students including students from
University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
 Participants pursuing degrees through distance mode learning or diploma are not eligible.
RULES AND REGULATIONS

 Each team shall comprise of two members. No individual entry will be entertained.
 There is a team cap of 80 teams to be selected on first come first serve basis.
 Team Codes will be allotted to each team.
 It is mandatory for all the members of a team to get themselves registered.
 It is mandatory for the members of the team to carry their institution ID cards.
 There will be a surprise/ tie breaking round in case of tie in the final round.
 The decision of the quiz-master will be final and will not be subject to any change.
 The participants shall not be allowed to use mobiles or other electronic gadgets.
 Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the competitors.
 Replacement of any participant of a team is not allowed after registration.
 No team member shall be allowed to sit individually for any round.
 The quiz will be held in two stages which are as follows:
• Elimination Round
• Final Round
ROUNDS DETAILS

 ELIMINATION ROUND

 A written test of qualifying nature will be conducted.


 All the registered teams will participate in this round.
 This round will comprise of 50 multiple choice questions.
 Time duration for the round is 30 minutes.
 1 mark shall be awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 Marks will be deducted for
every wrong answer.
 Asterisk mark questions (*) will be used to determine any tie in the preliminary rounds.
 10 teams out of the total teams will qualify for the final round.

 FINAL ROUND

1. First Round

 Each team shall be asked 2 questions each.


 Each right answer carries 10 points. There shall be no negative marking.
 The question will pass to the next team unless correctly answered.

2. Buzzer Round
 A total of 11 questions shall be asked.
 Each right answer will be awarded 15 Points.
 Each wrong answer carries a penalty of 5 Points.
 4 teams shall be eliminated after this round. In case of a tie for the purpose of
elimination, tie breaker questions shall be asked.

3. Rapid Fire Round


 5 questions shall be put up before the teams within a span of one and a half minute.
 The question shall not pass to the next team.
 The respondent has to answer or pass the question in quick succession.
 Each Question shall carry 10 points. And wrong answer shall attract a penalty of 5 points.

4. Audio-visual Round
 It will be a buzzer round.
 A total of 7 questions shall be asked.
 Right answer carries 15 points.
 Each wrong answer carries a negative marking of 5 Points.
 The question shall not pass to the next team.

The tie shall be broken by a Bonus Buzzer Question. Wrong answer will carry a penalty of 5
Points.

 QUESTIONS FOR AUDIENCE

 The questions will be put up on a random basis to the audience at any time after the
commencement of the Quiz.
 The candidate, who provides the right answer, shall be awarded on the spot.
REGISTRATION

 Interested students have to register:

Note: It is mandatory to attach payment receipt in the Google form, failing which
your registration will not be confirmed.
• On the desk which will be set up at UILS in front of the department office from 1:00
p.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily starting 13th March, 2019.
 The last date for registration is 20th March, 2019.
 Registration Fee – INR 100/- per team which is to be paid at the registration desk or by
an online transfer to the bank account bearing following details:

Note: On the Spot Registration is mandatory and no request shall be entertained for on the
spot registration after the time for the same is over.

Registration Fee once paid shall not be refunded.


PRIZES

The winning teams will be given the prize and the certificates.

 First Prize – INR 3,000


 Second Prize – INR 2,000
 Third Prize - INR 1,000

All the other participants will be given participation certificates.

SAVING CLAUSE

 In case of any dispute, the decision of the Director, UILS will be final and binding.
 The organizers reserve the rights to mend, vary, alter, modify, or repeal any of the above
rules for the convenient conduct of the quiz. (The same shall be notified to all the teams well
in time.)
