LEARNING

The take away from this experience is that the group was able to observe first hand how different
set of skills and techniques are used in the actual work of a lawyer. It is never a routinary kind of
work because one must be able to be flexible enough to handle easy and difficult clients. There
is also no codified way of handling clients, especially the difficult ones. The proper way to identify
what technique to be used is to gather as much experience as you can. Also, observing senior
lawyers on how they handle clients is a big help. One can never go wrong with asking questions
from those experienced ones. The experiences shared to us by the three lawyers we have
interviewed gave us a wide spectrum of choices on what career path we are about to take once
we entered the lawyering profession.

Counseling is the heart of the legal profession. Every case never misses the part that the lawyer
makes several number of interviews in order to gather strong facts about a case. The success of
the case is dependent upon the effectiveness of the lawyer when it comes to counseling and
interviewing. These se of skills are not just learned from school but also from challenging
experiences that a lawyer-to-be is about to face.
