REHABILITATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC STRUCTURES AND FACILITIES IN JAKANA,  

GOMBORU AND MAIDUGURI COMMUNITIES  
(SCHEDULE OF MOBILISATION AND METHOD STATEMENT) 

1.0 SCHEDULE OF MOBILISATION


The aim of this method statement is to provide a work template for the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction
of Public Structures and Facilities in Jakana, Gomboru and Maiduguri Communities. The mobilization
activities include;
(a) Provision of Site Facilities such as generator, accommodation for workers, cloak room and so on
(b) Recruitment
(c) Water supply - The closest water supply point would be identified and used or a well would be dug.
(d) Procurement of plants and equipment and so on
(e) Engineering activities which will start immediately after contract award
(f) Surveying - Topographic surveying and necessary setting out of the site shall be carried out

2.0 METHOD STATEMENT


2.1 Site Clearance
During the site clearance and preparation, excavated materials not required for backfilling shall be
transported using pay loader and tippers and dumped at approved dump pits by the local authority.
2.2 Demolition
Top down method shall be implemented for the demolition.
Roof shall be dismantled at first. The removal order shall be roof tiles and other roof partitions then battens
and finally rafters to follow.
2.3 Excavation and Earth Filling for All Foundation Works

Excavation of the soil to the required depth.

Removal of surplus soil with pay loader and transported with tippers to a location approved by the local
authority.
Casting the blinding to achieve the proper level.
2.4 Placement of Reinforcement and Casting for All Concrete Members
Fixing of the reinforcement for the foundation, neck columns and walls (already cut and bent in the
workshop) following bar bending schedule and drawings.
Casting of Concrete in foundation using transit mixer supplied by our batching plant installed within the
site. This casting shall be done by using vibrator and in line with the specification and approval of the
supervisor(s).
Fixing of formwork using appropriate materials for foundation, lintels, columns and walls following the
dimension indicated in the drawings
After confirmation of the consultant, the casting of the columns and walls to the required level will start by
using the transit mixer and vibrator (tower and mobile or stationary pumps) where necessary for the
placement.
After removing all the formworks having complied with minimum period for curing according to
specification, the backfilling will start with approved materials and compacted with small roller compactor.

2.5 Masonry Works
Hollow concrete block shall be laid in stretcher bonds on cement mortar (1:6) filled solid with weak
concrete in 230mm side thick walls and 230mm thick layers in jam roof.
Provision shall be made for the placement of wire mesh between block wall and concrete junction.
2.6 Plastering (Both Interior and Exterior)
Plastering will commence for the whole walls external and internal by using the mix design according to
the specifications.
2.7 Painting (Both Interior and Exterior)
Surface preparation to achieve evenness and neatness.
Application of prime coat: Application of first and second coats, giving enough time lapses.
2.8 Placement of Timber Carcassing and Approved Gauge of Aluminum Roofing Sheets
Installation of Roof Trusses, felting and slates. Longitudinal bracing will be fixed to the trusses, ceiling ties
and struts. The trusses will then be fixed to the walls and gables.
The felt will be systematically laid in the direction of the roof gradient with suitable side and end flaps, and
breaking joints between layers.
Enough quantities of roof slates will be fixed to the battens using copper double nails.
2.9 Ceiling Board Installations
Determination of panel direction.
Determination of border panel sizes (2' x 4' panels).
Installation of hangers and fasteners, perimeter trim, first main beam, border cross tees, remaining main
beams and cross tees, panels.
Lighting and other fixtures installations.

2.10 Electrical Wiring and Fittings


Fixing Conduits and GI boxes in the walls and all other necessary places.
Wiring for lighting & Power Points.
2.11 Installations of All Doors and Windows
Installation of Window Assembly and Installation of doors according to the specifications and schedule.
The doors and window shall be neatly placed in their respective positions and all necessary finishing
works shall be done afterwards.
2.12 Mechanical Work Installation
(a)Excavation of trenches, (b)External piping – Water supply, (c)External piping - Sewerage & Storm
water, (d)Shaft Piping, (e)Installation of pipes in wall chases, (f)Sanitary fixtures & CP fittings
installation
2.13 External works and Fencing
All external works such as external earthworks, interlocking, soak away construction as well as fencing
work shall be carried out following the prescribed specification and work sequence.
