OBJECTIVES

1. To identify problems that affects the traffic flow around Tacloban City.
2. To devise a plan
3. To provide a parking area in Tacloban City without adversely affecting the city’s road
network and business sector.

INTRODUCTION
A city in which it is a highly urbanized place where infrastructures grow, economic rises
and the population increases. It is also the most busiest and crowded place to stay in. In order to
be a sustainable city to stay with, it must have an ample space and parking areas to provide in
order to attain all vehicles access to move freely. From sidewalks down to pedestrians it must be
accessible to all the end users and even the PWDs. By these means, it will avoid the traffic
issues/problems especially in all the major roads.
Tacloban, or simply referred to as Tacloban City in Eastern Visayas and the capital of the
Province of Leyte. It’s the first highly urbanized City in the Philippines. Also it is the home of the
PINTADOS FIESTIVAL in the Philippines. It has a characteristics of being a city as to economic and
transportation. But in attaining good traffic flow of the road networks, they failed to meet the
expected output to have this. Traffic has become the major problem as to the past up until now
present.

BODY
Since Tacloban City is a highly urbanized city it is well expected to be the busiest and
crowded place to be as it is situated at the center of Eastern Visayas. Whereas the hard flow or
congestions of vehicular access that will use the road networks everyday around the city can be
observed. It must have the characteristics of being good, well situated and sustainable city
especially when it comes to road networks. This is the most basic requirement in Urban Planning
and must give value or attention by the Urban planner(s) not only in the present use but also to
the future use of the road networks.
In this case, Tacloban City failed to attain a sustainable city in which the road networks by
means of traffic flow and no parking spaces causing congestions, slow pace of vehicles in going.
It is caused by drivers who doesn’t understand signages, don’t know where to unload and load
passengers and for vehicular owners who don’t own parking spaces and doesn’t abide the
policies of the traffic law in all the major areas especially in the downtown area where the
commercial establishment, government establishment, and trade where located.
