INTRODUCTION:

The term School originated from Greek ward "SKHOLE” which

means leisure. There exist an intimate relationship between the School

and community8 are naturally interdependent on each other for their

progress. The existence of the School depends upon the existence of

Community for it's own development. School is a miniature from the

community. No School can exist without the community, because it

collects its population( Teacher and student from it). Therefore both the

School and the community should have co-operation with each other.

In recent times the School has assumed a very comprehensive role.

So much so that the functions of the family and the Community have also

fallen on the School. Now the School has to discharged not only its own

educational functions, but also to provide what home and community

provided in the past. Learning and enjoyment of together and its broaden

our mental horizon. The varied experiences enable us to see things from

a new angle of vision.


OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

School observation has been conducted keeping in the view of

following objectives:-

1. To know the educational system of the Institutions.

2. To know the Socio-cultural and educational background

of the Students.

3. To have a knowledge regarding functioning of the

School.

4. To know the magnitude of the teacher student

relationship.

5. To know attitude of the teachers and students

regarding School practices.

6. Developing concept of co-operation.

7. Developing Social conciseness.

8. National Unity and Integrity by the help of School.

9. Character formation.
NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

As a part of the courses worth we the +3 1st Year semester student

of education Pass have conducted study of "A PROJECT REPORT ON THE

FUNCTIONING OF BISWAMBHAR BIDYAPITHA, PURI" near Railway

Station, Puri. The study has been conducted by the help of an observation

schedule developed by me with the help of faculty members of the

department to submit a detailed report regarding it's functioning.

DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Due to shortage of the time the study has been confined to the "

BISWAMBHAR BIDYAPITHA, PURI" This study is limited only200students

from class IX to X and 20 teachers were taken as sample in a random way

for the present study purpose.

METHOD OF THE STUDY

Data have been collected by the help of an observation schedule

and face to face interaction with the respondents.


OBSERVATION REPORT

The title of the study “A REPORT ON THE FUNCTONING OF

BISWAMBHAR BIDYAPITHA "

The School name is " BISWAMBHAR BIDYAPITHA, PURI" the oldest

and premier High School in Puri. It was set up during the year-1983 and

its founder was Kishore Ku Das, hence the School is so named. It is

situated near Chitrakar Sahi, Puri. It is housed in a lovely brick colour

building. School start on 10.00.AM and is closed on04.00.PM. Here in

School east of the building lies a large garden with a beautiful statue of

Pratima.

EDUCATION IS IMPORTED WITH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES:


 To develop a sense of patriotism among the students.

 To develop a sense of co-operation and love for the nation.

 To develop moral values and character among the students.

 To develop a sense of democracy.

 To develop a civic sense of responsibility.

 To develop national-integration among the students.

 To know past culture heritage, traditions, Customs among students.


SCHOOL ACTIVITIES:

The total strength of the School's students is 200. The School


is having 20 dedicated teachers to teach the students. First of all when
the School peon tings the bell, the School work begins with the mass
prayer. Then class starts 10.30.AM, teachers teach the students and
2.00.PM will be recesses in 30minutes. Then will be starts the class. Last
period release to playing and practices like NCC, Scout, guide, Civil etc.
Co-curricular activities. Every year, two examinations are held. One is half
yearly and other is the annual.

The School organised different sports and competition


like debate, essay writting, dance, drama, one act play, G.K Competition
etc. Each School organises science exhibition followed by annual day of
the School. School also performed certain healthy practices like parent-
teachers meeting extra morale talk, joy eminent speakers etc. School
observes different national and international days such as WHO, Human
Rights day, ILO day, Independence day, Republic day, birth day of
different national heroes with much devotion. Teacher taught
relationship is very cordial in the School. Teachers are committed to had
overall qualitative development of the School. In annual function the
students are performed dance, song, drama etc and who will win in
sports and other competition they will take prize from respected
Headmasters and Officers.
