ABSTRACT

Stamping Machine is one of the principle machines in stamping industry & printing
industry. It is mainly used as the name indicates to stamp the logo or any other symbols.
stamping mechanism of paper useful in many kinds of organization like Universities,
Government offices, Post offices, Banks, Colleges etc. The feed of the paper will be
accomplished using a roller mechanism and the stamping will be done by incorporating a
simple link mechanism. By using Geneva mechanism and simple crank mechanism we
can easily simplify the structure.

INTRODUCTION

The various modern stamping machining processes getting widely used in the industries
are: Pneumatic stamping machine, PLC stamping machine, metal sheet stamping etc.
Stamping is process for reproducing text or images using a master form or templates. The
process of stamping was manually. It was a human based operation that consist a lot of
mistakes and inaccuracy. That operation takes a lot of time and human efforts.
Development in stamping machine brings that can print stamp logo on a fixed position on
paper. Later development brings movable arm stamp machine. Both machines were only
for single pages. This machine contains error while working and also consume time. So
we are going to design an automatic stamping machine for multi pages booklet as the
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering project. The important vision of this machine is to
fabricate the machine in minimum cost and profitable output. Also the machine is simple
to maintain and easy to operate. By using automatic stamping machine it is easy to print
the logo, name, sticker on blank paper, metal and leather. Hence to attempt this needs
fabrication of automatic stamping machine is needed. Although paper is the most
common material, it is also frequently done on metals, plastics, cloth and composite
materials. On paper it is usually carried out as a large-scale industrial process and is a
needful part of stamping. Automation can be defined as the “technology concerned with
application of mechanical, electronic and computer-based systems to operate and control
production”. There are many reasons for automating the process. The reason may be to
reduce manufacturing lead time, to increase labour productivity or to improve the worker
safety, etc.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The Automatic Stamping Machine is working with Geneva mechanism. The geneva drive
is gear mechanism that translate a continuous rotation movement into intermittent rotary
motion.
In Geneva, rotating drive wheel is usually equipped with a pin that reaches into slot
shaped groove located in other wheel that advances it by one step at a time.
The main component of Automatic Stamping Machine are:
1. Feed tray
2. Frame
3. Conveyor belt
4. Rollers
5. Geneva mechanism

WORKING

It works on the principle of utilizing electric energy to mechanical energy for stamping
on A4 size papers.
It is possible by geneva mechanism.
The following steps give details about working of
AUTOMATIC STAMPING MACHINE :-
• It consists of conveyor belt, electric motor and by geneva mechanism.
• In this system we use the electric supply as a source of energy.
• When the current supply ON the current goes to the system through step down
transformer, it converts the high power of current into low power up to 12 volt.
• The current voltage goes to dc motor through capacitor filter to relay and the motor
get starts, it converts electrical energy into rotational energy.
• This rotational energy is transferred to the roller.
• When the papers comes under the stamp arm, Because of the linear motion of the
stamp arm the last impression gives on paper.
• As dc motor has capacity of 65rpm this process goes continue and the papers on
conveyor belt get stamped.

ADVANTAGES

The advantages of AUTOMATIC STAMPING MACHINE are as follows:-

• It minimizes the human effort which required for stamping.
• It reduces the human mistakes which occurred on work of stamping.
• It minimizes time as compare to human working conditions.
• It is easy to operate.
• It require semi-skilled person for operation.
• It doesn’t create any kind of noise.
• It is of multi-purpose use.
• Applicable for mass stamping.

APPLICATIONS

The applications of AUTOMATIC STAMPING MACHINE are as follows:-

• It can be used in post office for stamping on letters.
• It can be used in school and colleges for stamping of college logo or signature
purpose.
• It is useful in many offices and press mills.
• It is also useful in industry.
• It can be used for stamping on I-Cards.
• It can be used to give any shape of impression on cards.
• It can be used for mass stamping.

CONCLUSION

An automatic stamping machine working on mechanical structure of Geneva Mechanism

and Simple Crank Mechanism was successfully designed. With the help of Geneva
Mechanism we get enough time to stamp on desired position as well as to feed the paper
on desired time. Hence we succeed to design a structure which operate in low cost, low
time consumption, with maximum accuracy. Hence this design is purely based on
,mechanical structure.
