As a financer advisor of the company, following are the reasons described for
the strange behaviour of investors                                                                                                         
                                  
Time value of money: The long-term government bond guarantees a positive
nominal returns, but not a positive real return. Thus, a low yielding return is
followed with little protection against inflation, if it develops in future.
Inflation: Due to inflation, the purchase has become more expensive. So, the
investors are selling more bonds to cover the inflated price of goods and services
their transaction demand for money.
Inverse relationship: bond rate and interest rate have an inverse relationship. As
the interest rate rises, the bond price decreases. Thus, investors expect a rise in
the interest rate and sell more bonds.
Speculative demand for money: The speculative or asset demand for money is
the demand for highly liquid financial assets. Here, the investors have demanded
highly liquid assets over bonds.
Higher return: investors are moving from safe assets to a more riskier asset.
Because riskier assets give higher returns.
