OUTLINE PROGRAMME OF ERASMUS +VISIT in
Poland ZSNr1 Tychy 13- 19th

January, 2019
MUSEUM OF WWII Auschwitz-Birkenau

Auschwitz-
Birkenau was
created in 1940
in the suburbs
of Oświęcim
and became a
symbol of
terror. The
concentration
campin
Oświęcim was called Auschwitz(Auschwitz I). It is
located in the areas of former military barracks.
Pseudomedical studies and experiments were carried out
on its site. In turn, Birkenau (Auschwtz II)is an
extermination camp in the village near Oświęcim. It is the
largests extermination camp in Europe. The Jewish,
Romani and Gypsy population were maintly transported
there. About 1 million people were killed in the
Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. After the liberation of the
camp, two transition camp for Germans prisoners were
established there. The Auschwitz-Birkenau camp was
liquidated in 1945. In 1947, Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II
were transformed into the Auschwitz-Birkenau State
Museum in Oświęcim. For this purpose, a smal part of
the camp was rebuilt. In 1979, in the other hand, the
museum's grounds were inscribed on the UNESCO World
Heritage List. Every year, “Live Marches” and other
commemorative events take place there.

City of Krakow
Kraków’s history spans a millennium: it was the seat of Polish kings
and the capital of the country, developing into one of the key
European metropolitan centres. The Old Town is an exceptional
treasury of works of art, with traces of history and heritage
representing nearly all architectural styles from the early Middle
Ages to contemporary times.
The Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) has been the heart of the
city: the largest market square of mediaeval Europe, it has preserved
its original shape since 1257, and it was entered on the original
UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978.
Kraków boasts one of the oldest institutions of higher education in
Central Europe, second only to the University of Prague: the
Jagiellonian University, whose students have included Mikołaj
Kopernik (Nicolas Copernicus) and Pope John Paul II.
Wawel Hill, inhabited since Palaeolithic times, has been an important
religious centre and home to Polish monarchs since the mid-11th
century. Today, with its no fewer than 71 exhibition halls, Wawel
Royal Castle functions as a museum, drawing visitors with precious
works of Renaissance art, among other attractions. Its arcaded
courtyard, a pearl of 16th-century architecture, inspires awe and
amazement.
Besides the city centre, the Kazimierz district likewise intrigues
owing to many centuries of coexistence of two cultures: Christian
and Jewish.
Nowa Huta, the most attractive and comprehensive implementation
of the dreams of socialist realist architects, still surprises with the
striking symmetry of its monumental structures.
Kraków is also a city with a dynamic cultural life. In 2000 it was a
European City of Culture. Every year, nearly 100 festivals and other
events, many of world magnitude, are held here; notably Misteria
Paschalia, Sacrum Profanum, the Jewish Culture Festival, and the
Kraków Film Music Festival (FMF). It is also a city of modern
museums, where visitors are invited to discover history in an
interactive manner.
It goes without saying that Kraków enchants with its unique
atmosphere: lazy and relaxed at times, brimming with events at
others, yet always exceptional and inspiring.
Adit Queen Luisa

In 2014 the Main Key Hereditary Adit, a part of the Queen Louise
Adit complex, became one of the most interesting attractions of
Zabrze city. The Main Key Hereditary Adit offers the complex of
various tourist routes based on 4km of excavations.
Tourists start their incredible journey from the Carnall shaft where,
greeted by a mining guide, will descent into the undergrounds in a
panoramic lift. A simulated pit cage crash will have a chilling effect
on the visitors, being the announcement of an unforgettable journey
into the depths of the Earth and the history of mining.
After reaching the adit level, tourists start the tour by overcoming the
550m long tunnel with the use of battery-powered boats, passing
three-dimensional productions, listening to the sounds of mining
machines and pickaxes, reverberating through the galleries. A great
experience is the visit to the cargo port, where coal would be loaded
on boats with the use of a special, timber crane.
Once having reached the end of the adit, tourist walk into the basic
drift in the No. 510 coal seam. The history of this workings dates
back to 1820, thus it is considered the oldest preserved tunnel cut in
coal. The exploration, carried out by the specialists from the Central
Mines Rescue Station, revealed that this 19th century excavation has
been well preserved along the entire, 200m long sector: from the
Main Key Hereditary Adit to the pit-bottom of the Wyzwolenie shaft.
Exposition of the former ways of coal-extraction, with the use of a
shortwall method, is presented here.

families with children, for friends meetings and lonely recreations or

active in a swimming pool or by jumping on a wave, we can
experience an unforgettable moment in the slides, we can just spend
a great time there. Second of them is shopping center named Gemini
Park, which is a meeting place for inhabitants and interesting events.
The last new location in Tychy is football stadium of the city football
team GKS Tychy. In the stadium, apart from matches, there are
various concerts and events.
