Step-by-step guide

The first task will be to Activate aATP functionality in our SAP system. The IMG path is the first
entry: SAP Customizing Implementation Guide > Activate Business Functions.

Within this object, open the folder: S/4H_ALWAYS_ON_FUNCTIONS and scroll to the bottom.
You will see the entry S4H_AATP below and can confirm the activated status.

After activation, we will proceed to sections of the initial configuration, which will appear similar,
as these are aligned with the standard ATP process from earlier ECC versions.
First we have to define the Requirements Classes and Types with their assignment to specific
Item Categories and Schedule Line Categories.
The documentation icons outlined in the screenshot provide detailed descriptions of each IMG
object for reference.
The standard system should have the core values with flexibility to create new or update existing
values as needed.
Following the IMG path: Sales and Distribution > Basic Functions > Availability Check and
Transfer of Requirements > Transfer of Requirements > and the subfolders displayed next.

Next we have to Check Groups with the IMG path: Sales and Distribution > Basic Functions >
Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements > Availability Check > Availability Check with
ATP Logic or Against Planning f

Then we go to next set of subfolders.

Define Checking Groups. The right column lists two choices, Active and Blank.
Set the indicator as A Active for each needed Checking Group.

After this configuration, Checking Groups are assigned to material in Master Data.
Checking Rules have to be assigned for each Checking Group.
This IMG object is available in several different folders.
The following path to have access to the Checking Rules:
Cross-Application Components > Advanced Available-to-Promise (ATP) > General Activities for
Advanced Available-to-Promise (ATP) > Stock Movements > Set Up Dynamic Availability Check.
We have here 4 buttons, we can use standard values and make adjustments if we need them
later.
After Checking Rules, we go to Product Allocation setup.
The values here are telling the system how the inventory of a material is confirmed for the sales
orders.
We have to define the Allocation Procedure first, the define the details in the remaining folders.
The procedures are then assigned to each material in the master data.
Sales and Distribution > Basic Functions > Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements >
Availability Check > Availability Check Against Product Allocation > group of subfolders

1. With MC93 we create Planning Version 000 with Planning Type COMMIT
2. With MC61 we create a Planning Hierarchy
3. In the object “Process Flow for Each Schedule Line Category,” the 3 check boxes will checked
to activate all Schedule Line Categories that will use AATP:

Check the settings in Product Allocation item.

We have here a system check: red message → error
When clicking the error we get corrective actions.
Open the IMG path for AATP: Cross-Application Components > Advanced Available-to-Promise
(ATP)
We do not need the Product Availability Check folder.

General Activities for aATP:

 The folder has 4 subfolders

 Open the folders, for Production/Process Orders and Stock Transport Orders, and define here
the AATP settings
In the Product Allocation folder we find the on/off switch to activate Allocations.
If needed, optional number ranges, can be created

The Backorder Processing and Rules-Based Availability Check folder have the default settings
Optional BAdIs can be selected in the last object

The last IMG task is to update the Logistics Information System (LIS) control for the Info
Structure S140.
IMG path:

 Logistics > General > Logistics Information System (LIS) > Logistics Data Warehouse > Updating
> Updating Control > Activate Update for the Sales and Distribution item
 Select S140 and display the details
 Set to Synchronous Update
After finishing the IMG activities, change all relevant Material Master records with the settings:
Product Allocation Procedure on Basic Data 1
and choose Availability Check in the Group on Sales General/Plant or MRP 3.

We also need to implement three SAP Notes that will set up the HANA Rules Framework (HRF)
and Business Rules Framework
Further details are included within each note.

 2400537: Backorder Processing in Available-to-Promise (ATP) in SAP S/4HANA

 2345697: BRF+ analytical decision table check Call CL_FDT_XS=>GET_INSTANCE with RFC
destination
 2351188: BRF+ Analytical function generation – Derive default schema dynamically
