Dear Mrs. McFadden,

Senior year is a difficult time for many students as they try to balance school work with fun activities that
may arise with senior year. The main challenge that begins with senior year is completing the rest of the
Charlotte Mecklenburg graduation project. Students are required to complete the Charlotte Mecklenburg
graduation project in order to graduate. As learned in junior year the graduation project prepares students
for the reality and expectations of a typical workload that businesses require. Since students are required
to spend two years on one topic, it is important for them choose a topic that interests them. I chose a topic
that not only correlates with my future career aspirations, but a topic that will assist me in understanding
my career in more in depth detail. I chose to complete the graduation project on how DNA evidence is no
longer becoming a reliable method of accurately identifying potential suspects from a crime scene.

Since I focused my topic on how DNA evidence is no longer reliable, I decided to research another
potential technique that can assist forensic scientist on identifying criminals. I researched some potential
techniques and found hair analysis to be the most interesting. I will put together a PowerPoint
presentation first explaining how DNA evidence is no longer accurate (using examples of cases on how it
proves to be unreliable), then I will propose my solution of utilizing hair analysis as a more reliable way
of identifying suspects. During my presentation, I will really emphasize why a better technique in
forensics is crucial for not only forensic scientists but also everyday citizens.

My presentation will be presented to not only the forensic instructor as Providence High School but with
many other interested teachers. I have already emailed the forensic instructor, Dr. Krahn, and he is
already willing to meet with me so I can discuss what I plan on discussing in my presentation. Also at our
pre-presentation meeting we will determine an actual date for when I can come in and present my
research. Based off of his email, he is very enthused about my topic and already has many teachers that
are interested in hearing my presentation. I am also very excited to present this presentation as I have
spent the last two years researching, analyzing, and building many different objects that have helped me
to understand my topic really well.

This product presentation will be unique to my graduation topic. The research will be directly from the
research from my paper and also from credible science websites. I am really looking forward to putting
this product together and presenting my research from the last two years. I really hope that you will agree
to my product that I have created.
