Introduction
The theoretical course includes the principles of surgery in general principal of surgery regarding
wound and its healing, shock, blood transfusion, fluid and electrolyte , burn , principle of oncology and
peripheral vascular surgery .

Behavior objective
At the end of lectures the students should be able to :
1- identify types of the wounds and wounds healing and sutures
2- enumerate the complications and factors affect the healing of the wound.
3- discuss how to evaluate the surgical patient in the form of a proper history taking , accurate
physical examination , requesting appropriate investigations and suitable management plan .
4- define some surgical terminology .
5- describe the perioperative preparation of surgical patient .
6- define shock and ,hemorrhage and discuss type of the bleeding
7- explain fluid and electrolyte disorder and type of the fluid used for each disorder
8- differentiate between types of burn and principle of its treatment
9- describe the diseases of the veins and the arteries
10- discuss the postoperative complications .
11- enumerate types of ulcer and how diagnosed and its proper treatment.
12- differentiate between types of surgical infection and its treatment.
13- Describe types of tumors and diagnosis.
14- Define transplantation and organ donation.
15- Enumerate types of donors.
16- Describe types of anti suppressant drugs.
