DEFINITION OF COMMUNICATION:

“Communication is the process of sharing by which


messages produce responses”.

The key points of definition are:

Process: Communication is not an end product, nor is it static or stationary.


Communication is a dynamic, on-going process.

Sharing: Communication is not just sending out a message as a monologue. It is a two


ways dialogue.

Message: It is what is in the communicator’s mind, it includes the verbal as well as


nonverbal component.

Response: It is the feedback the communicator receives from the audience. It could be
what the communicator anticipated, or it may be partially or entirely different from what
was expected.

Two other definitions of communication:

1. In Business Communication Mr. P.D. Chaturvedi Mukesh Charurvedi defines as


“It stands for a natural activity of all human beings to convey opinions, feelings,
information and ideas to others through words (written or spoken), body
language, or signs.”
2. In Effective Communication of ideas Mr. George Vardman defines as “Purposive
interchange, resulting in workable understanding and agreement between the sender
and receiver of a message.”

It the process of conveying information from a sender to a receiver with the
use of a medium in which the communicated information is understood the same way by both
sender and receiver. It is a process that allows organisms to exchange information by several

Communication 2:-
Basically, there are 3 types of communication in business, Written, Verbal,
and Non-verbal. Written includes letters, emails, memos, reports and formal documents. Verbal
communication includes "chats", presentations and voicemail! Non-verbal communication is using
signals to communicate and studying body language.

Electronic Theory:
This theory describes the technical way of sending message from sender to receiver. It starts with
the information source from where the message originate and then it is changed into electronic
signals. The message contains of words, number and character in the electronic and computer
readable form.
A simple communication model a Sender transferring a Message containing information
to a Receiver.

social factors plays an important role in the communication of messages, they help
sending messages from one place to another. Many people are working together in an
environment where they interact with each other on daily basis. Every person has some role in
any certain environment it may be possible while working in an environment as the manager he
should talk with his friends and colleagues with a different perspective. Social factors should be
considered so that the communication should be according the situation and culture of our
society.

The complete process in business communication which a sender to sends the message
through some channel and this message is received by the receiver and then the receiver
interpret it and send it back to the sender. This way the communication is carried. So this is the
importance of business communication according to the rhetorical theory it is stated that it is a
circular process which make the communication process clear to the both parties.
