GRADUATE PROGRAM
Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology offers opportunities of advanced study and academic
research to Graduate students. The programs involve Master's (two years) and Doctoral (three years) courses
leading to the corresponding degrees (M.Sc. and Ph.D.). Accepted applicants to the programs will be enrolled
in the next Fall 2019 semester, which will begin on September 22, 2019. Lectures and instructions for
research are given generally in English.

1. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR E-JUST POSTGRADUATE SCHOOLS

4 Admission Entrance Examination and Interview consists of two parts:
E-JUST
1- Written Examination (General Exam + Subject Exam)

2- Interview (Personal and Academic Interview)
Examinatio
Applicants must pass successfully E-JUST both written examinations (General and Subject) and interview; the
n/ applicant minimum acceptance percentage of the total evaluation (written Exams + Interview) is 60%.
Interview The percentages of total evaluation (Written Exams+ Interview) would be distributes as follows:
 For M.Sc. Applicants:
Written exams with a weight of 70% and interview with a weight of 30% of the total
evaluation.
 For Ph.D. Applicants:
Written exams with a weight of 30% and interview with a weight of 70% of the total
evaluation.
1- Written Examination
Measures analytical skills, intellectuals skills and professional skills and it consists of two parts:
 The first part is general with a weight of 40% of total written examination marks.
Applicant with GRE score of 148 in quantitative reasoning and GRE score of 4 in analytical
writing will not be required to enter the general exam by submitting the original certificate of
the GRE before the general examination; otherwise the applicant has to enter the General
Examination (The GRE certificate should be valid on the date of the application of the applicant).
 The second part (Subject Exam) is related to the student specialization with a weight of 60% of
total written examination marks.
Each exam will be carried out independently for one-hour duration.
 Applicants are not allowed to enter the exam class room after half time of the first exam
period.
 Applicants are not allowed to leave the exam before half time of the exam period.
2- Interview (Personal and Academic Interview)
Includes research proposal presentation and discussion and must measure professional skills,
specialization knowledge and IT skills, and teamwork skills.
The applicant minimum acceptance percentage in each part (General Exam, Subject Exam and
Interview) is 30%.

3. SCHOLARSHIPS TERMS and CONDITIONS
 The scholarship’s term is the minimum period necessary to complete the degree requirements in
E-JUST, which should be within two years for the M.Sc. degree and three years for the Ph.D.
degree; the scholarships’ are mainly supported by the Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt
(MoHE) which are available for teaching assistants and research assistants from governmental
universities and governmental research institutions, based on transparent selection procedure.

 Limited number of private scholarships is available for outstanding M.Sc. applicants.

 The scholarship’s support is dependent upon the student good standing with the E-JUST graduate
program in which he/she is registered. An evaluation progress report will be sent semi-annually
to the sponsor reporting about the student’s study level, including the student transcript,
academic advisor report, and the updated student research situation.

 Scholarships are full-time scholarships; this means that E-JUST students are fully devoting to their
study and research in E-JUST and are not allowed to work elsewhere during their scholarships’
period.

4. SELECTION PROCEDURE
4.1. Announcement: for E-JUST graduates programs are carried out directly in different
universities to students and Faculties (Sending letters and emails to faculties of Engineering),
in official newspapers and E-JUST web site: http://www.ejust.edu.eg. Starting from March 1,
2019.
4.2. Submission of Application Form: Required documents' submission including selection of
three research topics in one department prioritized by the applicant and the maximum number
of departments the applicant can apply for is two. The applicant is recommended to select
one-to-three topics from only one research track of his/her interest and/or related to his/her
experience. The council asserts that this recommendation is by no means an obligation to the
applicant Applicants from governmental universities should submit official agreements of the
related academic departments.
4.3. Document Screening: E-JUST internal work including documents classification and analyses
for inviting applicants for entrance exam and interviews.
4.4. Entrance Exams and Interview: including presentation of research proposals.
4.5. Admission Result Release: after analyzing entrance exam and interviews results.
4.6. Registration: after submission of all required original documents, applicant is academically
accepted as E-JUST student.

Entrance Examination
Students are required to pass successfully an entrance examination that focuses on the students’
academic background in the related program and on their analytical abilities.

Entrance exam will include two parts, one hour each. The first part is a general graduate examination
and the second is a technical examination.

THE FIRST PART IS GENERAL EXAM:


The general examination part (one hour exam) will mainly focus on assessing the student's creativity
required for him/her to make a transition to being a distinguished independent researcher; the exam
would include both multiple-choice and essay writing questions to access the student's ability to think
outside of the box (lateral thinking), how well he/she can analyse ideas (mainly analytical and
mathematical ability), and finally how practical he/she is to transform ideas into research/artefacts
(logical reasoning and scientific arguing abilities).

THE SECOND PART (SUBJECT EXAM):


The technical examination part (one-hour exam) assess the student's basic scientific background in the

The candidate conducts a 15-minute presentation by PPT (Power Point Presentation) for his/her
research proposal in front of an evaluation committee. The presentation is followed by 15-minute
discussion with the candidate to evaluate the main points given in the research proposal and to
evaluate the candidate’s research potential.

Applicants are required to provide a copy of the research proposal report and a “six slides per page”
handout on a white background for the Power Point presentation

5. General Guidelines
1- The maximum period that applicant might be put on the waiting list is one year only (two
semesters); and two years (four semesters) for private applicants who fulfilled all the admission
requirements but have no financial fund
(Note: the waiting list period does not include the semester the applicant applied for).

2- If the accepted applicant for M.Sc. degree requested to transfer his application from M.Sc. to
Ph.D. after passing M.Sc. entrance examination, technical and personal interview, he/she should
reapply on the website by filling new application then pass all the admission procedures for the
Ph.D. degree.

3- If any applicant would like to transfer from a department to another during the interview; the
applicant should fill and sign a “Transfer Form” to the admission office approved by the dean of
the school and the chairperson of the department he/she wishes to transfer from and the dean
of the school and the chairperson of the department he/she wishes to transfer to, in addition the
applicant should obtain the subject exam of the new department.

4- If any applicant would like to transfer from department to another after being accepted and
admitted in that department, the applicant should reapply from the beginning by filling a new
application and go through all the admission procedures.

5- If any student would like to postpone his/her enrolment, the deadline is the second week from
the beginning of the semester, otherwise he/she is considered as withdraw and/she he should
re-apply from the beginning.
