UCIM-08C 8-Position Universal Customer Interface Module

1. GENERAL

1.1 Document Purpose

This document provides installation information for the West-

ell UCIM-08C 8-Position Universal Customer Interface
Module (UCIM), shown in Figure 1.

1.2 Document Status

This document replaces the HyperEdge practice number

785-000148 and provides an editorial update.

1.3 Product Purpose

The UCIM-08C is used with the DTWA-528-08 8-position Digital

Terminal Wall-mounting Assembly (DTWA) as a replacement
for the standard Customer Interface Module (CIM), to provide
individual customer interfaces of either RJ48C, RJ48S, or RJ48H
(selectable) jacks.

1.4 Product Features

Features of the UCIM-08C are as follows:
S Selectable RJ48C/RJ48S/RJ48H jack configuration
S Temperature hardened (-40_C to 65_C)
S Complies with UL 1950, Issue 2 of the NEC
3. Position the UCIM-08C either on the left or right side of the
mounting by sliding the UCIM card-edge connector into
the 56-pin connector. Secure the UCIM into place via the
thumbscrews.
4. Re-position the cover back into place and secure it to the
mounting assembly. Note: If the UCIM is installed on the left
side, flip the top cover over and secure into place.

The UCIM-08C can be mounted on either the right or left side
of the Westell DTWA-528-08 mounting assembly.
1. Lay the mounting assembly down on its backplate.
2. Turn the thumbscrews, located on the right-hand side of the
mounting, counterclockwise and lift off the top cover of the
mounting assembly.
4.1 Warranty
Westell warrants this product to be free of defects at the time
of shipment. Westell also warrants this product to be fully func-
tional for the time period specified by the terms and conditions
governing the sale of the product. Any attempt to repair or
modify the equipment by anyone other than an authorized
Westell representative will void the warranty.
