Describe any FIVE reasons that justify the importance of group formation

1. Security

By joining a group it is stronger in any thing compared to an individual and it is


more resistance to threats

2. Status

Group provide recognition ands status for it members and attract someone or
organization attention.

3. Self-esteem.

Provide people with feeling of self-worth. Beside of that members in group can
also give increase feeling of worth to the group member themselves.

4. Affiliation.

Group can fulfill social needs. For many people, these on-the-job interactions are
their primary source of fulfilling their needs for affiliation.

5. Power

By joining a group people can gain more power which cannot be achieved
individually. There is power in numbers

a. Define group cohesion

Degree to which members of a group are attracted to one another and to group
membership or Group cohesiveness is the degree to which members are
attracted and motivated to remain part of a group (Schemerhon, Hunt & Osborn)

b. Explain any FIVE (5) factors that influence group cohesiveness.


1. Members are similar in age, attitude, needs and background

2. Members respect one another’s competencies

3. Members agree on group goals

4. The group is relatively small size

1. Reason.

reminders

4. Higher Authority

Gaining the support of higher levels in the organization to back up requests

Use of negotiation through the exchange of benefits of favors
