1. Scope
The following method statement describes the work process for application of
Internal Painting to walls & Ceiling. This method statement has been developed
to provide a safe working system and must be adhered to at all times, any
significant deviation from this system must first be authorized by Project
Manger/Engineer or safety representative

5. Construction Procedure

1. Before starting the Internal Painting work make sure that P.O.P work has
completed.
2. PP sheet should be laid on the flooring to avoid the damage to the floor from
paint.
3. Before starting painting work ensure that masking is done for kitchen otta,
doors, windows.
4. The surface should not be painted until it has dried completely. Trial patches
of primer shall be laid at intervals and where drying is satisfactory, painting
shall be then taken in hand
5. Clean the wall and ceiling area properly with emery paper 180 upon P.O.P
6. Apply 1st coat of wall Primer on ceiling followed by walls after sanding
with emery paper.
7. Allow it to dry for a minimum period of 6-8 hours.
8. Prepare acrylic putty and apply it on the ceiling to fill dents and cracks.
9. Apply putty on the ceiling followed by walls with the help of steel trowel.
10.Sand the surface with emery paper 180 to clean the surface
11.Apply 2nd coat of primer on ceiling and walls and allow it to dry for a
minimum period of 6-8 hours.
12.Sand the surface with emery paper 320.
13.Apply 1st coat of acrylic distemper with proportion of (1kg of paint : 600 ml
of water) on ceiling followed by walls.
14.Allow it to dry for 6 hours
15.Apply 2nd coat of acrylic distemper with proportion of (1kg of paint : 500
ml of water) on ceiling followed by walls.
16.Clean the surroundings and remove the masking’s

7. Control Measures

 Working Labour must be “competent” to carry out the task.

 Ensure that Painter & Helper follow the PPE’S & Safety Precautions

 Ensure that the working personnel should not lift beyond your capabilities, get
help if necessary.

 Ensure that while working in Heights ladder or working platform should be in a


safe condition.

 It is a must to follow all directions given by the site Engineer/Supervisor or his


agents.

 You must have suitable respiratory protection.

 Ensure 1st coat Acrylic Distemper is applied on Ceiling & Walls

 Ensure after completion of paint surrounding are cleaned
