LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

February 22, 2019

I. Objectives:
1. Define Kinetic and potential Energy.
2. Compare and contrast potential and kinetic energy.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Potential and Kinetic Energy
B. References: Science 9 Learners Module
C. Materials: Projector and Laptop

III. Learning Procedures

A. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of Attendance
d. Review
B. Motivation

Everybody should stand up

You should do as I say when the word is not preceded by the word simon says

If one student will obey a command not preceded by the word simon says he/she will be

given consequences.

a.) Setting of Objectives.

C. Lesson Proper
a. Activity
“Blow to move”

The teacher will divide the class into four groups and should have 5 representatives to do
the activity. They will be given 7 disposable cups and 5 balloons each.
They will align all the disposable cups; beyond the aligned disposable cups is a border line. They
will blow the balloons and will use to blow off the disposable cups off the border line, after he/she
blow all the disposable cups using the inflated balloon, next representative will follow repeating
the same process until all the representative finish the task. The winner of the group will be chosen
according to the first to last group who finish the task with corresponding points.

Guide Questions:

1.) What is the motion of the cups at first?

2.) What happen to the cups after blown by an inflated balloon?
b. Analysis
The teacher will ask some students on what they observe based on the activities we
performed.
1. What do you think are those words that you had guessed?
2. What are those? How can you say so?
c. Abstraction
The teacher will give every group cutted part of an illustration board, and will present
examples of potential and kinetic energy. And the students will be given time to
guess if it is potential energy or kinetic energy, they will write PE if it is potential
energy and KE for kinetic energy.

d. Application
The groups will be given ample time to brainstorm to give 5 examples on potential
energy and five examples of kinetic energy and the groups will pick one representative
to report.

IV. Synthesis (Valuing)

What do you think is the relevance of potential and kinetic in our daily lives?

V. Assessment

1.) Define Kinetic Energy. And potential energy.

2.)Compare and contrast Kinetic and potential energy through a venn diagram.

a ) Energy in motion b.) Types of energy

c.) Energy that is stored d.) Running man
e.) Rock on top of a mountain

Kinetic Similarities Potential

V. Agreement

Research on the different forms of potential and kinetic energy write it on a ¼ sheet of
paper and pass it next meeting
