Background and Rationale of Learners of the 21st century come across to their learning opportunities collaboratively
the Study with other learners. As prospective teachers, they must internalize their future work and
works as professional teachers. As such, they must win learning experiences like peer
mentoring, managing a functional small group, among others. The principle that learning
is cooperative and collaborative process must be seeded among them, i.e., cooperation
fosters extensive learning (Corpuz & Salandanan, 2015). In doing so, prospective
teachers are prompted to direct and vicarious learning experiences which may sharpen
their philosophies of teaching and learning. When realized, their indulgence as ‘little
teachers’ will provide them the opportunity to develop authentic responsibility and
interdependence since cooperative approaches are always enabling.

The crux is: teachers should make use of cooperative and collaborative approaches in
teaching and learning. In this way, students are taught to learn to live together and learn
deeper which can lead to independent learning.

Research Objectives This study will explore the experiences of pre-service secondary teachers as little
teachers as a way of enriching their quest of learning together and learning deeper
various concepts for inquiry.

Specifically, this study will seek to (1) document their experiences as little teachers and
(2) capture factors that contributed to the realization of their tasks as little teachers.

Expected outputs This study is purposively designed to build a mental schema that learning is conjoined
with the spirit of learning to live together and learning deeper among prospective

teachers. In doing so, they may realize that collaborative approaches are always
enabling.

Research Methodology This study will employ the Qualitative Research Design using Phenomenology as
strategy for inquiry. The informants, where qualitative data were generated, will be the
pre-service secondary teachers who served as little teachers in an experimental
classroom teaching. To be qualified as informants of the study, they must have
participated the coaching sessions and completed the learning plan to which they will
serve as little teachers.

The proponent will personally interview the informants to gather data needed in the
study. Before the interview will be conducted, the proponents will brief the informants
that their participation in the interview is voluntary and they can terminate it anytime
and their identity will be kept with utmost confidentiality. Transcripts of the interview
will be carefully transcribed and coded to be validated by a researcher whose credibility
is beyond compare. Document trail will be employed in routing the transcripts of the
interview to the informants in ascertaining the veracity of the claims. Moreover, data
will be analysed thematically to conclude on the research objectives. Themes will be
formulated according to the recurring claims of the informants which will serve as bases
in an inquiry-based analysis vis-à-vis the research problem. Aptly, the analysis to be
done in the research includes familiarization and organization, coding and recoding, and
summarizing and interpreting.

Educational, Social or Scientific This showcases the empirical value of action research in education particularly on
Value of the Research responding to competencies or attributes that are least mastered or performed.
