Why you should give your child a middle name

Naming a child is one of the first pleasures of being pregnant — that, and being able to feel those precious baby
kicks. When it comes to assigning your new baby a denomination, there's a lot to take into consideration.
Finding the right balance between uniqueness, sentiment, and how it sounds is a delicate process. Though
considered unnecessary sometimes, I think the name that gets sandwiched between the first and last is actually
the best. In fact, I even gave my son two middle names. I have no idea if it's a long-standing tradition, but many
of the men in my family have two middle names. While it can certainly be a mouthful and runs the risk of
sounding like a law firm, I've always loved it. Doubling the middle names sounds more formal and gives a way
to honour both grandfathers or other relatives. And in some cases, a lot of children go by their middle names as
they get older.
Additionally, giving the child two middle names is quite common in the United Kingdom, and if it's good
enough for the royal family, it should be good enough for the rest of us.
Equally important to the argument for middle names is the chance to showcase your weirdness. Want to name
your child after a fruit or a meteorological event?
When I was picking a name for my son, whatever name I chose needed to sound good throughout his whole
life. As someone with a long and difficult-to-pronounce last name, I wanted to give my son the option of having
a middle name that could double as a last name, if he chose that his given name was too cumbersome.
While he is my little cartoon-watching toddler now, someday he'll be in the workforce, and he'll need a name
that gives him the option of appearing professional. Middle names give children an extra option in their future
lives as working individuals.
Most important, without a middle name, what are parents supposed to cry out when the child has been naughty?
Just the first name is too curt. To really strike fear in their hearts, firmly exclaiming their first, middle, and last
names is the only way to let them know you mean business, you do not joke, you are serious.
As long as that mere mention can get my toddler to listen, I'll always, always have a soft spot in my heart for
middle names. http://www.essentialbaby.com.au/pregnancy/baby-names/why-you-should-give-your-child-a-middle-name-20180419-h0yzlv#ixzz5EFOekoFy

SCIENTISTS DISCOVER EARTHLIKE PLANET; HOPE THE CIVILIZATION

IS MORE ADVANCED

European astronomers, upon discovering a weird Earthlike planet outside of our own solar system, winningly
named Gliese 581c, were immediately fearful that the sort of behavior that goes on here might be more
widespread than previously believed and could only hope that the civilization is more advanced.
There was even some worrisome speculation about the possibility that the odd civilization could be at the same
stage as our own and if, in fact, it might currently be playing host to notorious individuals as our Earth has had.
Feeling that one version of such people is enough, they immediately resorted to the hope that, since the star
around which the planet spins is older than the sun, any civilization there might be more advanced than our
own.
Less concerned citizens began to speculate about what sort of weird inhabitants might reside there besides mass
murderers and insult comedians. The participants covered all the important categories, such as who might be
the most popular singers and actors.
Of course, the most revealing way to determine who might live there is to travel to the planet, but since it’s
about 20 light years away, the means of transportation is still not available.
Whether our inability to travel there just yet is good news for the earth or for the newly discovered weird planet
remains to be seen.

1.What have European astronomers discovered?

2. Why are astronomers worried about their new discovery?
3. What does less concerned citizens begin to speculate about?
4. Say what life on other planet would be like.

A Royal Meal

We took a look at the Queen's typical day of eating and drinking, from the tea she drinks and biscuits she eats
when she wakes up to her low-carb lunches, her nightly glass of Champagne, and penchant for chocolate.
Deciding what to eat must be tough when you're a royal. Luckily, her Royal Majesty the Queen has a team on
hand to help her pick her menu — even when she's shopping at Waitrose.

The Queen starts her day with tea and biscuits. She has a freshly brewed pot of Earl Grey tea (no milk or sugar)
in bone china cup, with a few biscuits.

She then moves on to breakfast, which normally involves cereal and fruit. She likes her cereal to be served from
Tupperware, which she believes keeps it fresh. She occasionally opts for toast and marmalade. Or, on some
occasions, enjoys scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and truffle.

Lunch is something simple, like fish with vegetables. She likes to eat grilled Dover sole with wilted spinach or
courgettes, according to former royal chef Darren McGrady. She's also partial to a simple grilled chicken with
salad. She has a "no starch" rule when she's eating along, meaning no potatoes, rice, or pasta, McGrady told.
Starch is said to be quite unhealthy.

Every day, she takes afternoon tea. It's served with tiny sandwiches such as cucumber, smoked salmon, egg and
mayonnaise, or ham and mustard with the crusts removed (to save calories, no doubt), as well as jam pennies —
tiny raspberry jam sandwiches cut into circles the size of an English Penny. It also comes with McVitie's rich
tea biscuits, scones, and cakes, her favourites being honey and cream sponge, ginger, fruit, and the chocolate
biscuit cake which was served at Will and Kate's wedding, according to McGrady. For pudding, fresh fruit,
particularly the white peaches grown in greenhouses at Windsor Castle. She was so partial to these that she
would have them sent up to her when she was at Balmoral. "She didn't always eat everything," Mr McGrady
said. "She'd maybe have one or two tiny sandwiches, and sometimes she is in the habit of actually just
crumbling the scones on the carpet for the dogs to eat."

For dinner, fillets of beef or venison, pheasant, or salmon come from farms in Sandringham and Balmoral

1. How does the Queen chooses what to eat?

2. What does the first meal of the day consist of? And what rule does she follow and why?
3. What habit does the Queen sometimes do when she cannot eat everything?
4. Do you have a healthy diet? Talk about healthy eating habits.

A dog lover has sent out a warning to all pet owners after his miniature schnauzer was taken by a driver

Richard Guttfield organised a huge search after the 11-month-old dog Wilma went missing from his home in
the village of Marsworth, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire last Friday.
A driver had dropped off an order at the time the dog went missing, leading Mr Guttfield to ring the delivery
company to find out if he had any information.
But, after some detective work, the 51-year-old discovered in working with Amazon, that the driver may have
taken the dog.
Wilma has been since returned by Amazon, but Mr Guttfield is warning other pet owners to be on their guard.
He told The Sun: 'Our homes are all exposed to these drivers and the vast majority are great. But low lifes will
take advantage.'

Mr Guttfield has thanked all the locals who helped in the search for Wilma, as well as the website
www.doglost.co.uk, which helps owner find lost pets.
He posted on Facebook: 'Wilma is safe and home now thanks to an amazing effort form a lot of kind hearted
people.'
He is now raising awareness of other lost dogs to help owners who are in a similar situation to the one he found
himself in.
Amazon described the incident as 'inexcusable' and said the driver, who worked for an independent delivery
firm, is no longer working with Amazon packages.
