Connection
b Cut to the appropriate length the blue flying neutral supply lead 1 and connect
4 to the neutral terminal block.

b Cut to the appropriate length the cream flying earth supply lead 5 and connect
to the earth terminal block.

b The load connections are made to the outgoing terminals of the unit marked
L (phase) 2 and N (neutral) 3 (recommended torque: 2 N.m).
The neutral wire connected to the load must not be connected to the neutral
terminal block of the load center.

Testing
Periodic test
b To test the operation of the QOE RCBO after installation, press the test button "T"
on the front of the device. The QOE RCBO should trip every time, failure to do so
indicates either no supply to the QOE RCBO, or a faulty device.

b A test for the effectiveness of the QOE RCBO in a protected installation should be
carried out periodically as detailed in local regulation and standards, using suitable
test equipment.

b In case no such regulation applies, Square D recommends to test the device:

v every 6 months for new devices installed in fair conditions
v every 3 months for devices installed in fair conditions after 7 years or more
v every month for devices working in corrosive, heavy-duty or highly exposed to
lightning risk environments.

b Minimum operating voltage for the test button: 200 V AC (0.85 Un).

Megger test
b QOE RCBO must be disconnected before any High Voltage dielectric tests are
carried out.
Regulation and standards
b This range complies with the following standards:
v IEC 61009-2-2
v BSEN 61009-1.

b The tripping time is in compliance with the current edition of the UK wiring regulations. (BS7671) and Australia / New Zealand standards
AS/NZS 3190.

Note: Check compatibility with earthing system, do not use on installations which require double pole switching
eg. IT or TT systems.

Indirect contact protection

b All electrical equipment protected by the QOE RCBO must be effectively earthed.
The measured value of the earth resistance in ohms must be such that the product of this value, and the residual operating current of the
QOE RCBO in amps, does not exceed 50 Volts.
Eg. the maximum, permissible earthing resistance is as follows:

Device Sensitivity Maximum Earthing Resistance

10 mA 5000 ohms
30 mA 1666 ohms
100 mA 500 ohms

Additional direct contact protection

b The QOE RCBO cannot be used as a sole means of protection against direct contact, but it can be used to reduce the risk associated with
direct contact, providing the conditions related in the current edition of the wiring regulations are observed:
v IEE wiring regulations BS7671 for United Kingdom
v AS/NZS3000: 2000 wiring rules, for Australia and New Zealand.
b For this purpose QOE RCBO sensitivity shall be 30 mA.
