What is a PMS system?

How can we interface to the Nomadix XSG?

Introduction
Nomadix supports PMS payment for users of the Visitor Based Network (Hot-Spot). This feature
is especially useful in sites such as Hotels.

The Nomadix Gateway functionality for PMS payment is enabled through the purchase of the
PMS billing module. This will enable the handshake protocol required for PMS payments. The
Nomadix is a 100% certified for use with many PMS systems. The Nomadix Gateway send
billing information to the PMS system when authorizing the End User for the requested amount
of time purchased.

The Nomadix subscriber gateways can interface to different PMS system within the Hotel
environment. (PMS= Property Management System /Software). This software is used by the
Hotel owner to manage all billing information from the customer.

This PMS system consist of several components.

1- PMS central server (PMS)

2- Point of sales terminals (POS)

  Currently, a lot of these PMS systems are still DOS based and are evolving to
Windows based systems. Here are some example about PMS interfaces.

PMS interfaces : Micros Fidelio (One way or Two way communication) .

Micros Fidelio is seen as one of the major PMS suppliers in
Europe. Some other PMS vendors are also supporting these
interfaces.

Hogotex, Holodex …. And other are using interfaces

Standards like Hobic. These interfaces are communicating
One way!

One Way communication

One Way = The nomadix is only sending information to the PMS system.

This method is sending the billing information from the Nomadix xSG to the PMS system .
– In this billing information contains
1. Room number
2. Connection type
3. Revenue
4. Date stamp
5. Time stamp

Two Way = The Nomadix is sending information about the customer like Name and
Room number to the PMS system and wait until the PMS system has verified if that
customer is actually in that room or checked in and than the customer will be authorized
to go to the internet .

Introduction to “How can the hotel PMS system interface to the Nomadix XSG?”

Hotel High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) Network.

Today , most of the PMS systems using a serial link(cable) to connect systems like Pay
TV , Mini bar and PABX ‘s and other systems. . These systems are send billing
information in a pre-defined ASCII format to the PMS system . These formats are well
known by the Hospitality market.

In the future, a lot of these links will be changed to TCP/IP (Ethernet) i.s.o. serial.

What kind of info is send to the PMS system ?

All information is send in ASCII character format to the PMS system.

After selecting the appropriate interface, the Nomadix xSG will send the information in
the correct format to the PMS system.

Most of these PMS interfaces are all One Way interfaces. Only Micros Fidelio
(1700/2000/3700/4700/8700 system Software) is a Two Way interface.

How it works using the PMS system
First the customer should connect to the Local Network using a UTP cable or a WIFI-Card.
When the customer is starting his Internet browser, the customer will be redirected to a portal page. On this
portal page, the customer has a choice concerning the Payment Method.

On this portal page the customer can choose ADD TO ROOM payment method . After this selection, the
page will ask you for you Internet connection.

Once you have selected one of the connection type, the Nomadix xSG will redirect you to a confirmation
web page

At this point in time , the information about your Internet connection will be send to the Hotel PMS system
(to the customer ‘s Invoice ) . When this is done, you can go and surf the Internet .

Corporate users can setup a VPN connection to download company information , email , ….

This information will be printed on your invoice.
