TROUBLESHOOTING FLASH CODE 64 PID 103/FMI 1
This diagnosis is typically Turbocharger Speed Low.
1. Connect DDDL/DDRS 7.10 or newer. Go to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF). Go to step 3.
3. Check for any additional fault codes. Are there any other air management fault codes present?
[a] Yes; diagnose the other air management fault code first. Verify repair. Refer to section
verify repairs
[b] No; go to step 4.
4. Turn the ignition OFF. Go to step 5.
5. Disconnect the Turbo Speed Sensor connector.

6. Measure the resistance between pin 1 of the turbo speed sensor and battery ground. Is the
resistance less than 5 ohms?
[a] Yes; replace the turbocharger speed sensor.
[b] No; go to step 7.
7. Measure the resistance between pin 2 of the Turbo speed sensor connector and battery ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
[a] Yes; replace the sensor.
[b] No; go to step 8.
8. Remove the turbo inlet boot from the air filter and inspect the turbine inlet compressor wheel
for defects. Is there damage present or does the turbine shaft stick or bind while being spun
by hand?
[a] Yes; replace the turbocharger. Verify repair. Refer to section verify repairs
[b] No; go to step 9.
9. Inspect the air intake system and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system for leaks or
restrictions. Are there any leaks or restrictions present?
[a] Yes; repair the leaks and/or restrictions as necessary. Verify repair. Refer to section
verify repairs
[b] No; replace the turbocharger speed sensor. Verify repair. Refer to section verify repairs

VERIFY REPAIRS
Check as follows:
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Reconnect any electrical connections that were previously disconnected to perform the
diagnostics.
3. Clear codes with DDDL/DDRS 7.10 or newer.
4. Start and bring the engine to operating temperature (over 60°C/140°F).
5. Verify the operation is satisfactory and no warning lamps illuminate. If warning lamps
illuminate, troubleshoot the codes.
