TYPE OF LESSON: Vocabulary Practice and Building Integrated skills.

SKILLS INVOLVED: listening, speaking, reading, writing.

AIMS/OBJECTIVES:

A) SPECIFIC AIMS: by the end of the lesson the Ss. will be able to:
- ask and answer questions regarding Christmas
-speak about Christmas habits
-use the new words in short sentences
-undestand a text about Christmas

B) AFFECTIVE AIMS:
- to create a warm atmosphere in order to offer the background for smooth, easy conversations between T.
and Ss.
- to help Ss. become more confident when speaking English.

STAGES OF THE LESSON:

ACTIVITY 1: ORGANISATIONAL MOMENT (1`)


PROCEDURE:
 T. enters the room, greets the Ss., asks if there are any absentees and talks to the Ss. asking them how they are
doing. Ss. greet and answer the questions.
AIM: - to cheer up the Ss. and to prepare Ss. for the lesson.
TECHNIQUES : discussion.

ACTIVITY 2: CHECKING PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE (6`)


PROCEDURE:
 T. asks the Ss. about their homework checking it frontally (“What was your homework for today?”) and then
individually by verifying Ss` notebooks. T. asks questions about their homework and the Ss. answer the
questions.
AIM: - to check the acquiring of previous knowledge and to give the Ss. feedback regarding their work at home.

ACTIVITY 3: WARM-UP (2`)


PROCEDURE:
 T. asks Ss. “Do you know what we celebrate on 25th of December?. The greatest Christian holiday T. puts it
down on the bb. and the Ss. in their notebooks.
AIM: - to make the lead-into the subject and capture their interest in the topic;
- to prepare Ss. for the lesson.

ACTIVITY 4: VOCABULARY FOCUS-INTRODUCING THE NEW VOCABULARY (7`)


PROCEDURE:
Teacher presents Ss the worksheet with new vocabulary.
Ss will find the images matching with definitions
They will number the images and will translate the sentences,helped by their teacher
They will write the new words in their notebooks
They will discover three pieces of Christmas things which are not described
AIM: - to activate curiosity and Ss.` interest in the lesson topic.

PROCEDURE: They will complete a crossword and will discover a secret message
- to make Ss. use the new acquired vocabulary in written production.

ACTIVITY 6: CONSOLIDATION:
PROCEDURE: They will receive some worksheets and will read about the significance of Christmas .In these
texts they will rediscover in simple sentences which are the habits of people around the world.

- to activate Ss. vocabulary linked to Christmas

ACTIVITY 8: EVALUATION/ASSESEMENT (2`)


PROCEDURE:
Ss. will be evaluated based on their activity during class verbally, but also by receiving marks.
