Hotel de Paso es un documental que retrata la vida cotidiana
de emigrantes deportados que viven en este viejo hotel
antiguamente llamado “El Centenario” y ahora conocido
como “Hotel Migrante”, el cual representa un microcosmos o
submundo que permite la convergencia entre el bien y el mal,
entre personajes antagónicos y protagónicos. Mientras la vida y
el tiempo transcurren, como si se tratase de un purgatorio con
almas en pena, cada uno de estos personajes evolucionan a lo
largo de la historia construyendo coralmente esta película y cada
una de estas voces aporta algo desde sus propios asideros: los de
su pasado, los de sus emociones, los de sus frustraciones, los de
su supervivencia, teniendo que resolver su situación migratoria,
ya sea intentando el cruce ilegal nuevamente hacia “el otro lado”,
regresando a su ciudad o país de origen o sobreviviendo en la
frontera. Entre el encierro y en la espera, los habitantes del hotel
tienen que adecuar sus vidas a las reglas y dinámicas impuestas
por los encargados del lugar, una asociación civil llamada
“Ángeles sin Fronteras”.
Hotel de Paso is a documentary that portrays the everyday life
of the deported immigrants that live on this old hotel formerly
called “El Centenario” and now known as “Hotel Migrante”;
this place represents a microcosm or underworld where
good and evil meet through protagonist and antagonistic
characters. As life and time go by, as if it was a purgatory with
lost souls, every character evolves building this film in a choral
manner; each voice brings something different through his
own holds: his past, his emotions, frustrations, his survival...
all of them have to resolve their migratory situation either by
trying to cross illegally again to “the other side”, returning to
their home city or country or by surviving on the border.
Between the confinement and the wait, the inhabitants of
this hotel have to accommodate their lives to the rules and
dynamics imposed by those in charge, a civil organization
called “Ángeles sin Fronteras”.

Karla Maestra en Comunicación de la Ciencia y la Cultura por el ITESO. Investigadora academica perteneciente a la REDIC
Sánchez (Red de investigadores de Cine) de Gdl. Cineasta y fotógrafa. Ha sido becaria CONACYT y por su opera prima, HOTEL
DE PASO, que se encuentra en post producción ha obtenido Beca Ambulante, FONCA del Programa de Coinversiones;
Jóvenes Creadores, DOCSDF/IMCINE, BORDOCS TIJUANA , etc.

She has a master degree on Communication and Social Culture Studies ( ITESO). She form part of th REDIC (Film
Research Network) stablish in Gdl. Filmmaker and photographer. She earned the CONACYT scholarship and his first
feature film title HOTEL PASS, which is in post production obtained FONCA Coinversiones y Jovenes Creadores, DOCSDF
/ IMCINE, BorDocs TIJUANA and has participate in FICM, FICG.
