Science 9 includes four units with content in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Physics,
and Earth Science. Each of the units described will include daily worksheets, lab
activities, a project and a test. There will be a final exam in June.

EVALUATION
As we work through the four units in this course, we will help students to master the
Content as well as achieve the following Curricular Competencies:
Questioning and predicting:
o to ask questions and demonstrate intellectual curiosity based on their own
experiences
o to make predictions and formulate hypotheses based on their questions
Evaluating
o Evaluate the validity and limitations of a model or analogy in relation to
the phenomenon modelled
Communicating
o to communicate ideas by connecting them to place and using appropriate
scientific language
At the end of each term students will self-assess and be assessed as to whether they are
“not yet meeting”, “approaching”, “fully meeting”, or “exceeding” these expectations.
Be in class on time with ALL your material, along with your calculator
Work missed during absence has to be done as soon as possible. You can look on
the homework website to find out what you missed or email me directly. Be
responsible for making arrangements for missed quizzes and tests.
Cell phones cannot replace your calculator and shouldn’t be seen in class. Please
put them away before coming in my class. If I see it, it will be given to the school
administration.
If you need extra help, come and see me at lunch or after school as soon as
possible.
