Anticipated problems:
a) Pupils might have problems understanding everything the teacher says.
Possible solutions – Teacher uses Romanian when necessary
Learning objectives:
-to review numbers 1-10 and ‘How many…?’
-to introduce new vocabulary related to the topic: fruits (apple, pear, grapes, banana, strawberry,
peach, watermelon, lemon, orange, cherry)
Lesson Aims:
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
-recognize and produce the vocabulary related to the topic
-answer correctly to the question ‘How many (apples)? ‘Two apples’
-use the newly acquired vocabulary in simple sentences: ‘It’s a pear.’
Activity 1:
Warm-up:
Greetings, introductory conversation; setting the right atmosphere
T greets the Ps and asks ‘How are you today?’ then plays the ‘Greeting Song’ on the laptop
Ps sing along using gestures.
Interaction: T→Ps, P→P Time: 5’
Activity 2:
Blue ball game
Aim: to review introduction
T shows a ball to the Ps and says: ‘I’m Gabi. I’m 44.’ T asks Ps to introduce themselves and pass
the ball to the classmate next to him. The game goes on until all the Ps have introduced
themselves.
Interaction: T↔Ps P↔P Time: 5’
Activity 3:
Aim: to introduce the new vocabulary-fruits
T tells Ps they are going to watch a short video about fruits. After watching the video, T shows
Ps some flashcards with drawings of fruits and repeats each fruit name. Ps repeat the names of
the fruits after the T.
Interaction: T↔Ps Time: 10’
Activity 6:
Aim: to review numbers 1-10 and ‘How many… (fruits)?’
T tells Ps to open their textbooks at page 35, ex: ‘Let’s count’. Then she asks ‘How many fruits
are there in the tree ? Let’s count!’. Then T explains the exercise and Ps write down the answers
on their textbooks. T checks the answers by reading them to the Ps.
Activity 7:
T gives Ps worksheets, explains the task giving clear instructions and makes sure everybody
understood it. Ps have to colour the fruits according to the instructions. T praises the children and
gives them candies.
