Company Profile

 FDC (Foods, Drugs & Chemicals) formerly known as Fair Deal Corporation, has been
in the pharmaceutical business for more than seven decades now.
 In 1936 Mr. Anand Chandavarkar founder of the company set up Fair Deal Corporation
(FDC) to import drugs, infant foods and surgical appliances for distribution in India.

With a modest beginning in 1936 - marketing vitamins and a range


1936 of prescription formulations - FDC set up its first formulations
manufacturing facility in 1949.

Subsequently, in 1963, FDC pioneered the manufacture of


1963 specialized ophthalmic formulations in India.FDC was the first
organization to introduce the BFS (BLOW-FILL-SEAL)
technology for ophthalmics in South East Asia.

In 1972, FDC initiated the concept of Oral Rehydration Salts


1972 (ORS). Today its pioneer brand 'Electral', stands apart with a
special identity- an impressive achievement in a fiercely
competitive market.

FDC's API plant at Roha (Maharashtra) was among the first few
1984 API facilities in India to get US-FDA approval in 1984. Since
then, FDC has to its credit a number of new molecules, introduced
for the first time in the nation.

Recognitions
 FDC received the Quality Excellence Award from "Indian Drug Manufacturers'
Association" (IDMA) in 1993 and 1994.
 For breakthrough R&D efforts, FDC has been awarded the "National Award for R&D
effort in the industry" by the Department of Scientific Affairs, Ministry of Commerce,
Govt.of India. Apart from being WHO-GMP certified, FDC's API and formulation
manufacturing facilities are approved by regulatory authorities from all over the globe,
including UK MHRA, US FDA, ANVISA (Brazil), and MCC (South Africa).

 

Manufacturing facilities

 At present company do have a wide range of manufacturing plants across the nation
which includes locations like Roha, Raigad, Maharashtra(Waluj, Sinnar, Verna)
Urangabad, Nashik, Goa (Plants I, II & III), Himachal Pradesh.

Products & Product Categories

 Besides ORS, FDC was the first to offer soya-based infant foods in India. Today, FDC
has a distinct presence in numerous therapeutic segments such as anti-infectives,
dermatologicals, respiratory, haematinics, and is the undisputed leader in ORS and
ophthalmics.
 FDC has earned widespread recognition by virtue of its leading brands viz. Electral, Zifi,
Pyrimon, Zoxan, Zocon, and Mycoderm to name a few.

Company has total 190 brands and it has divided them into five divisoin namely,

1) VISTA (Pediatric) e.g. Zifi 100 (contains cefixime 100mg.)


2) SPECTRA (Adult) e.g. Zifi 200 (contains cefixime 200mg.)
3) SELECT (Speciality Agents)
4) PROXIMA (Cardiac and Diabetic)
5) LUMINA (Dermatology and Ophthalmic)

Separate sales force for each division is available in FDC Ltd.

 

Distribution Channel

 Finished products from all the manufacturing units are brought to the central
where house first. FDC Ltd. Has two central ware house in India
subsequently at Bhivandi (Maharastra) and Ghaziabad (Utter Pradesh).

 FDC Ltd. Has established some own sales depots at state levels as well as
company also acquired Carrying and Forwarding agents (C&F Agents) as
listed in the table. From the central ware house products goes to either sales
depots of C&F agent of the company in every state of the nation.

 From the sales depots/C&F agents product reaches to the stockiest which
exists at the district level it may be single or multiple in numbers according
to the requirement.

 At last, product reaches to the retailer or Hospitals/doctors.
