In terms of its contents, personal letters can be divided into 2 types, namely:
• Unofficial personal letters, namely personal letters made and sent by someone to relatives and
family.
• Personal letters that are semi-official in nature, namely letters made and sent by someone
personally to an official or an organization / agency.
• Opening and closing greetings in personal letters are non-formal and relaxed.
• The language used is adjusted to the purpose of the personal letter. Use standard language if it's
official, and use language is not standard if it's not official.
1. To express feelings
Personal letters are usually used for personal purposes so they are often used to express one's
feelings.
This type of personal letter is intended for the purpose of communicating with family, relatives, or
loved ones.
Family personal letters usually use non-standard language. This type of letter is generally made in
handwriting.
• Job Application Letter, which is a letter made and submitted to another party for the purpose of
applying for a job. A job application letter using standard language is good, polite, and easy to
understand.
• Application letter, namely a letter made and submitted to another party, both personal and agency /
organization, to submit an application.
In this section the letter maker writes the address briefly and also the date the letter was made.
2. Greetings
The opening greeting is the way the letter writer starts communication by personal letter. Some words
are often used as opening greetings, for example:
• Om Swastyastu
• Best wishes
• Dear ...
• And others
3. Opening Paragraph
The sentence in the opening paragram is usually a question about the news of the recipient of the
letter.
4. Content Paragraph
In this section is the place where the author of the letter conveys the core or purpose of the letter. A
personal letter must also have clear objectives and be delivered in a language that is easy to understand.
5. Closing Paragraph
This paragraph is used to close or end personal letters. Frequently used words are hope, excuse
yourself, apologies, etc.

Indeed, my purpose in writing this letter is the reason for wanting to share the good news
with all of you. And I don't think it will be complete if the father, mother and family all don't
hear this good news. Father, mother and all that is at home, Astunkara, now my study is over.
Soon you will take the final exam if there are no obstacles. That is, in the next few months I
will graduate. I can't wait to be able to meet and be with you all, especially with mom. Please
