Introduction
Maestro Mark Anthony Carpio is a choral conductor and a countertenor who is the choirmaster of the
Philippine Madrigal Singers, Kilyawan Boys Choir and Pansol Choir. He is also a faculty member at the
University of the Philippines College of Music. He and Madz gave us the unforgettable concerts last
summer, and he will bring Madz to tour Taiwan again this year.

Greeting
At first, Sir Mark, the Chinese New Year starts coming week, happy new year and good to talk with you and
welcome to our radio show, please say Hi to our listeners and audience (Hi, Ma-li, Hi, Taiwan, I am Mark
Carpio)

Questions
1. Would you like to introduce The Nightingales which combines the beautiful voices of Bianca Camille
Lopez and Ma. Rhina Palma-Cruz?

2. Talk about the concert program of The Nightingales touring Taiwan. What’s their expectation?

3. We learned that these two ladies in the Nightingales are former MADZ singers. Bianca used to be a
frequent soloist in MADZ concerts, and she had left MADZ for a few years now. Even so, they still
perform in concerts in MADZ 2017 Europe Tour. Obviously, there is a very close and excellent
relationship among members in MADZ to be able to do that. Could you share with us how do you
cultivate this rapport in the choir, so that the alumni of MADZ are still very close to the choir?

4. Some of the Nightingales concerts will use minus-one instead of traditional piano. Would you like to
talk more about this form of representation, and how the singer will do differently in order to achieve
good results?

5. Would you like to talk about the two different programs which will perform with MADZ in this year?

6. How to manifest the good taste to programming decision? Is depended on audience demographic,
Signers’ capability, atmosphere and other reasons?

7. What is your approach to Jazz Music? What’s the difference to sing classical music?
8. What is your opinion to sing with live band? How to make each voice in aural balance? What is the
standing chart on the stage?

9. Why are there so many choral arrangers and singers in your country. Is it attributed to Catholic or music
education?

10. How’s musical education environment currently in Philippines?

Mark, thank you for the nice interview. Happy New Year!
