BRETT KAVANAUGH’S CAREER HAS BECOME A SYMBOL OF AMERICA’S

GROWING LACK OF INTEREST IN SOCIAL PROGRESS

For the last few weeks, America has once again been put on the spotlight of the world’s
news with the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault by three
women, to hold the position of a judge in the Supreme Court of America. He was nominated by
the President Donald Trump himself. Brett Kavanaugh is a 53-year old man from Washington
D.C who graduated from Yale University cum laude (with honours), but with his sexual assault
history being revealed, it appears that his life isn’t so honourable after all. The first woman to
make allegations against Kavanaugh was Christine Ford, who claimed the judge sexually
assaulted in high-school, with him denying those allegations and claiming his innocence, despite
the fact that the accuser was polygraphed and her accusations were proven to be accurate by the
machine. The other two women also accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting them in high-
school under the influence of alcohol, which most definitely should not be an excuse. President
Donald Trump himself stood up for Brett Kavanaugh and called all the accusations a ‘hoax’,
claiming it’s part of a political propaganda against him, which is a degradation for all the women
who finally spoke their truth and who only want to see justice done. However, justice rarely is
properly served and therefore Brett Kavanaugh remains on his high position in society, with all
the publicity only helping his ratings, which brings me to my question ‘How long will people
look the other way in cases of sexual assault without taking them seriously and allow sexual
predators to rule the world?’
