LESSON PLAN IN TEACHING READING (INFERENCING)

OBJECTIVES: During the learning engagement, students are expected to:


1. read for textual details;
2. use information presented in a reading selection to evaluate ideas;
3. infer information located in the text;
4. respond to ideas, and concerns presented in a reading text critically;
5. show appreciation of the story in a creative form.

SUBJECT MATTER AND MATERIALS:


Skill Development: Inferencing
Main Text: The Origin of This world (Maranao)
From the Anthology of Philippine Myths by Damiana L. Eugenio
Materials: strips of paper, manila paper, word web, cartolina, markers

PROCEDURE:
A. PRE-READING:
1. Developing Vocabulary/ Concepts
ACTIVITY 1: Word Webs
The class will be divided into three groups. Each group will write as many words as they
can that can be associated with the given word in the web. They will present their outputs to the
class after five minutes.

1. Engagement Activities (individual task)
Activity 3: Locate, Reflect, Evaluate.
Locate information in the selection to determine whether each statement can be
inferred (I) or not (N). Justify by pointing out statements in the story to support your
answers. (This will be done orally).

They will be given three minutes to practice and two minutes to present.

Directions: With the same groupings, the students will do the following tasks:

WRITING-The students will write their own two-paragraph story of creation.

ART- Using their own story, the groups will draw their concept of creation.

4. Application
Directions: In a one-half crosswise, write your inference about the picture below.
