Define Stock and WCS

Goals
:
1. Create a new Setup.

2. Set the Work Coordinates of the part.

3. Define the Stock settings.

4. Define the Program Name or Number.

: 1. Open the exercise file “Lesson 1 procedure 2.f3d”.

2. Open the Setup parameter screen by clicking on the 'Setup' icon.

3. In the Work Coordinate System (WCS)
change the Orientation to ‘Select Z
axis/plane & X axis’.

4. Click on the ‘Face’ button and select the top


face of the model.

5. Click on the X axis ‘Button’ and then select the edge of the model.

6. Change the Origin to 'Model origin'.

7. Select the 'Stock' tab.

8. Change the Stock 'Mode’ to
'Relative size' box.

9. Change the ‘Stock Offset Mode’


to ‘No additional stock’.

10. Set ‘Round Up to Nearest’ to 0


(zero) in.

11. The ‘Dimensions’ of the ‘Stock’


are 4in for X, 3in for Y and 0.25in
for Z.

12. Select the Post Process tab.

13. Leave the ‘Program


Name/Number’ set to 1001.

14. Change the ‘Operations’ name to ‘Lesson 1 Setup’.

Self-Check:

1. Stock: What are the Dimensions of


the part?
Check the ‘Stock’ parameter screen
in Setup. Do the dimensions match
the following?

Width (X) 4in, Depth (Y) 3in, Height


(Z) 0.25in

 If so, Good job!

 If not, double check that your


settings in ‘Stock’ are correct.
