Construction checklists:- To help you maintain control over your

house construction – and be another set of eyes for mistakes – we’ve put together a
comprehensive construction checklist. Some of this you can do, some of this your designer can
do.

General point that should have taken on one construction

(1) Has a full set of the contractual documents been provided for review?
(2) Does there appear to be any inconsistencies or any potential for inconsistencies between any of the
contractual documents, e.g., two documents may cover the same area?
(3) Have all areas of the contract which need to be checked by a technical adviser been identified in the
review, e.g.:
(a) technical aspects;
(b) employer obligations;
(c) rely on information;
(d) performance tests;
(e) all limits on liabilities; and
(f) levels of liquidated damages?
(4) Has the contract been entered into? [If so, has it been executed as a deed?]
(5) Is the contract unconditional?
(6) Is there or has there previously been any interim arrangement in place between the employer and
the contractor, e.g., work may have commenced under a letter of intent? If so, what are the implications
of this ongoing or previous arrangement?
(7) What law governs the contract? Has advice been taken on the implications of this choice of law?

(8)Materials and products match what was specified.


(9)Timber is at specified moisture levels on installation.
(10)Timber has the correct preservative treatment for its location.
(11)The house is set out correctly on the site.
(12)Plans and specifications are followed.
(13)Materials are installed to manufacturers’ instructions so you get the warranty.
(14)Finished construction is protected from the weather. This all points are contractor that
should be taken.

Checklist is prepared by consultant&contractor

Daily Reports: The project manager or his representative will maintain a daily
diary summarizing pertinent construction items. Items recorded shall include (as
a minimum):
a) Date
b) Weather Conditions
c) Brief Summary of Work Performed
d) Number of workers on site
e) Type and Amount of Major Equipment being utilized
f) Running total of working/calendar days used on project
g) Significant Directives/Communication with contractor (e.g. regarding
construction procedures or material quality)
h) Summary of QA tests performed that day
i) Arrival / Departure Time On Site Inspection Staff
8. Weekly Reports: A summary of weekly construction status shall be prepared
weekly (on FAA form 5370-1 or other approved form) and submitted to [owner /
FAA] every [list day, e.g. Friday]. Report shall include summary of work
completed that week, summary of QA test results, discussion of any controversial
issues that came up, work anticipated next reporting period.
