INTRODUCTION

Movie 'Adam’s Rib' is a 1949 American film directed by George Cukor. It is a funny and
farcical look at the legal system, marriage, and the meaning of equality in our society. The plot
of story is based on domestic and professional tensions mount when a husband and wife work as
opposing lawyers in a case involving a woman who shot her husband.

Movie 'Witness for the Prosecution' is a 1957 American courtroom drama film with elements
of Film Noir set in the Old Bailey in London. The film, based on a short story by Agatha
Christie, deals with the trial of a man accused of murder .

AIM OF THE PROJECT:

The movie Adam’s Rib took its inspiration from a real court case. The film offers a surprisingly
faithful depiction of what really happens during a legal case. The film is about the battle over
sexual equality which spills over into the personal lives of a lawyer husband and his lawyer wife.
The movie portrays hillarious battle of sexes but in largely acclaimed finest comedies.

The movie Witness for the Prosecution is considered a movie with a surprise ending. Agatha
christie’s story and the wonderful courtroom thriller is the reason behind choosing the movie for
review. Basically a serious story with a classic of the courtroom genre. The film portrays some
very finely tuned twists.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS-

1. What is the importance of Reviews in the sphere of Cinema?

2. Whether the movie is cohesive with study of law?

3. How is the subject matter of the movie related to Legal issues?

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY-
The Research Methodology adopted in this project is Doctrinal. The data covers the legal angles
encompassed by the story of the movie and reviews of critics and jurists.
Secondary sources of data gathered mainly from Internet, used for formulating the content of this
project.

OVERVIEW OF THE LITERATURE:

 The Guardian provides this research, a detailed and critical review of the aforesaid
movie. It provides the plot as well as analysis by critics on the subject, actors, directors,
screenplay and the storyline.
 The Telegraph gives a critical analysis of presentation and viewer’s opinion has been
displayed.
