How Is America Becoming Great again If You Have People On The Borderline Of Broke?

How does Trump claim America is great again and not every citizen is prospering? It's

the wealthy caucasians that get all the money. Some of us Black people are on the verge of

poverty, and all we ask for is a raise in minimum wage, so people don’t look at black people as a

statistic. It is very rare to see a Black people living in Ballantyne (Charlotte, North Carolina), but

many people think Black people live on the West side of Charlotte. In North Carolina, the

poverty rate for Black Americans is 22%. The poverty rate for White Americans in North

Carolina is 11%. Minimum wage should be raised in every state because it will make the

homeless rate go down, it will lead to a healthy economy, and it will decrease pay

inequality.

A double digit minimum wage will boost the economy. According to Grace Donnelly,

more money to the citizens equals more money to the government(Donelly). The government

derives on money, and double minimum wage will lead people to paying more taxes. According

to Grace Donelly, minimum wage raises will boost the government in a great way(Donelly). It

puts more money in United States employees pockets, and more money goes to the government.

Basically a continuous circle: money goes to employees, employees pay taxes, then money goes

right back to government. A minimum wage raise will lead to a healthy economy and raising

minimum wage will keep pace with inflation.

Minimum wage raises benefit everybody. According to Dan Kopf, if minimum

wage keeps up with inflation, the economy will benefit(Kopf). Low wage workers will also

benefit with the economy. According to Dan Kopf, if the government raises minimum wage to

10$, everybody can profit(Kopf). This quote is supporting the argument that raising the

minimum wage will benefit many low wage workers. While raising minimum wage will benefit

employees, businesses will see more productivity.

Higher wage will bring prosper to businesses. According to Lauren Dixon,

businesses would see more productivity(Dixon). Businesses will see more productivity because

pay increase will boost an employee’ morale. According to Lauren Dixon, as long as minimum

wage keeps up with inflation, the economy will be successful. This quote supports the argument

that raising minimum wage to $10 can keep on pace with inflation to help everybody

prosper(Dixon). Raising minimum wage will see businesses in prosperity and a decrease in

poverty rate.

The second reason why minimum wage should be raised is because the

homelessness rate will go down. According to David Neumark, the states that have raised

minimum wage already have seen decreases in homelessness rate(Neumark). This shows that the

federal government shall raise the minimum wage so more taxes can go to the economy.

According to David Neumark, minimum wage raises will reduce poverty(Neumark). This quote

supports the argument that minimum wage will reduce poverty levels because money encourages
most people to get it. Another reason to raise minimum wage is because it will change many

homeless people’s minds.

This plant shows the poverty rate throughout Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and

the United States. In 2008, North Carolina’s poverty rate was higher than the United States

poverty rate in whole. In 2009, North Carolina’s poverty rate increased and was still higher than

the United States. In 2010, North Carolina’s poverty rate decreased, but the poverty rate was

even with Mecklenburg County’s and the United States.

If minimum wage is raised, it will encourage many homeless people to get up off their

feet. According to Chris Lu, current minimum wage isn’t enough money to fulfill anybody

needs(Lu). Minimum wage isn’t even enough to get your needs. It will be very hard to live a

good life making minimum wage. According to Chris Lu, higher minimum wage will increase

the productivity in many people’s lives(Lu). A lot of homeless people panhandle and higher

minimum wage will prevent that. Higher minimum wages benefit homeless people and also

benefit low income families.

Raising minimum wage will also benefit low income families on the verge of poverty.

According to James Bennet, minimum wage can guarantee medicaid and food stamps if you

apply for it(Bennet). Even making $10 an hour can qualify you for food stamps. The price of

living is too high for the minimum wage to be in single digits. The living wage in Charlotte,

North Carolina is $11.36 an hour. According to James Bennet, minimum wage should be raised

to double digits, plus benefits(Bennet). This quote supports the argument that the price of living

is getting higher so minimum wage should be raised. Another reason to raise minimum wage is

to lower pay inequality.

The third reason to raise minimum wage is to decrease pay inequality. According to Jared

Bernstein, there’s a huge gap between low minimum wage workers and high wage workers(

Bernstein). People in the low class don’t have much to bring to the table while the wealthy have

extra to bring to the table. According to Jared Bernstein, minimum wage affects many low wage

workers lives and people in the high class don’t have much effect with their wage(Bernstein).
What if a person wants to go on vacation but makes minimum wage? The person will not be able

to go because of money situations. Another reason to raise minimum wage is so it keeps pace

with inflation.

Raising minimum wage will reduce inequality and keep pace with inflation. According to

Allison Doyle, increasing the minimum wage could reduce gender and race based

inequality(Doyle). Many hispanics cannot get jobs because of their race and their stereotypical

profile so they go to construction. According to Allison Doyle, increasing minimum wage has it

pros(Doyle). If minimum wage increases, many people can move to better areas and provide for

their families. Another reason is raising minimum wage to double digits will still consider people

low class.

If minimum wage is raised, low class would be considered middle class but still low

class. According to Dave Jamieson, some states have decided to increase minimum wage to

10$(Jamieson). In Seattle, the wage is increased to 15$. The minimum wage there is considered

low class. According to Dave Jamieson, the states that have raised their minimum wage to

double digits, need to become all states(Jamieson). If all states raise minimum wage; the USA

will become a prosperous country. If the government raises the minimum wage it will benefit

people and the economy while money comes into the economy.

Minimum wage should not be raised because it will eliminate jobs for many people,

businesses will have to fire employees just to comply with minimum wage laws. Another reason

to keep minimum wage the same is it will raise taxes. What this argument fails to consider is,
raising minimum wage will take taxes. What this argument fails to consider is, raising the

minimum wage will take people out of poverty and let people buy all their needs.

Minimum wage should be raised in every state to decrease poverty rate, it will boost the

economy’s morale and it will decrease pay inequality in many factors. Minimum wage should be

raised, it could make the United States a sought after country. My topic matters because many

people want a raise in the minimum wage to not only fulfill their wants… but to fulfill their

needs.
