Big three in one;
UB, LPU, BatStateU tie up for indigents

University of Batangas Student Government (UBSG) launches Linkage, Unity and

Brotherhood (LUB) along with the two other main universities in Batangas City including

Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas and Batangas State University, which

aimed to strengthen links with each other that will support indigent communities in

Batangas City, Nov. 7.

“Way back 2015 and 2016, nagkaroon na kami ng ganitong kind ng organization at

naisip namin na kailangan namin itong bigyang buhay ulit kaya nakipag-coordinate kami

sa tatlong pinakamalaking universities dito sa Batangas. Ang collaboration na ito ay

maglalayon na bigyang pansin at tulungan ‘yung mga community na nangangailangan

dito sa Batangas,” reiterated Jose Miguel Dela Cruz, UBSG Officer.

Through the initiative of the university’s officers, student government and

representatives, the newly-inaugurated brotherhood has already conducted its first

outreach program in Brgy. Cuta, the adopted community of UB, wherein they promoted

awareness regarding drugs and health-related activities among the residents of the said

barangay.

“Ang una talaga namin na naisipang tulungan ay ‘yung mga taga-Brgy. Cuta dahil

bukod sa sila ‘yung adopted community natin, alam namin na sila rin ‘yung mas higit na

nangangailangan. Nagkaroon kami ng ganitong activity para kahit ‘yung maliliit na bata

ay mabigyan namin ng tulong at kaalaman,” shared Dela Cruz.

Furthermore, aside from including necessary health information and activities on the

seminar, the group also provided proper hygiene kits, health guidelines, and food to

improve the state of their overall health.

 As of now, the LUB is still on the process of completing the constitutional bylaws of

the organization to make it an official institution. More so, annual meetings between the

members of the group and planning of future activities is still ongoing to further enhance

the brotherhood and to discuss the fund raising activities.

“Layunin ng organisasyon na ito na makatulong sa marami at s’yempre gusto namin

na makilala ito para i-encourage ‘yung ibang school na makiisa sa amin. Sa palagay rin

namin, daan ito para maging united ‘yung mga universities,” ended Dela Cruz.
