Bapu's Daily Routine in Sevagram

4.00 a.m. Get up from bed


4.20 a.m. Morning community prayers, writing, work or rest
7.00 a.m. Breakfast , Morning walk (about 5 k.m.), Help in Ashram kitchen, Cleaning
work, latrine cleaning, Utensils cleaning, Vegetable cutting, wheat grinding, etc.

8.30 a.m. Visitors, writing or reading work


9.30 a.m. Oil massage in the sunlight and tub-bath (shaving without glass or soap during
tub-bath)
11.00 a.m. Lunch.
1.00 p.m. Correspondence, visitors
4.30 p.m. Spinning
5.00 p.m. Evening meals
6.00 p.m. Evening Prayers (Prayers speech)
6.30 p.m. Evening walk for some time
9.00 p.m. Go to bed (He used to complete his pending work on Mondays by keeping
silence.)

Ashram Routine - Bihar School of Yoga


4.00 am Wake up and personal sadhana
5.00 am Hatha Yoga start at 5 am. Timings change as per winter or summer season.

6.00 am Breakfast
6.30 am 6:30 and 7:30 am there is Karma Yoga for all visitors and residents.
7.30 am Departmental Karma Yoga is assigned to individuals in administration,
maintenance, publications, transcriptions, art, gardens, kitchen, etc.
10.30 am Sundarkand Chanting
11.00 am Lunch
12.30 am Time from 12.00 pm to 5.30 pm is devoted to classes or departmental Karma
Yoga. Observance of Mauna (silence) is
1.30 pm Tea obligatory at all meal times and from 6
pm to 6 am.
5.30 pm Dinner
Every Saturday- Mahamrityunjaya
6.30 pm Bhakti or Jnana Yoga Havan
7.30 pm Private study or sadhana in one’s own room. Every Ekadashi- Bhagavad Gita Path
Every Poornima- Sundarkand Path
8.00 pm Gates of residential buildings close. Every 4th, 5th & 6th- Guru Bhakti Yoga
8.30 pm Lights out. Every 12th- Akhand Path of
