API 5L X65 PSL2 PIPE

API 5L grade X65 PSL 2 is known as High yield seamless Pipe, API 5L x65 pipe
is most suitable grade for weldable structural steels for offshore piping projects as
well transportation of oil and gas in high pressure as well high strength
applications. This grade is enhanced and modified for best to offshore construction
and in a marine environment. These pipes are widely used in production and
transmission of oil, gas and water near salty water conditions. Applicable codes
and standards of API 5L X65 PSL2 is ISO 3183 which is specification of Line Pipe
as per API 5L standard specification.

Normalizing rolling pipe comes in this grade as “X65NM" and Quenched and
tempered pipe comes as "X65Q", Q define a type of heat treatment in which steel
pipe is hardened by tempering. PSL2 refers to pipe specification where chemical
composition of steel is more extensive and minimum toughness is defined, so
PSL2 pipe is tougher compared to PSL1. This material is known as L450Q in
United States customary units. This steel pipe is one of the most suitable and
economical solution for sour service.
