3rd Officer to do list

- Check Hydrants including Foam hydrants(To be


greased, easy to operate)
- Fire hose boxes to be cleaned and labelled with IMO
symbol(Items: fire hose, nozzle and couling key)
- Nozzles and fire hoses to be in good shape
- Every hydrants needs to have a “F”Key
- IMO Symbols to be in good shape and not be missing
- Lifeboat and Rescue Boat inventory(everything has to
be as in ship’s solas manual), expiry date for medicine,
food and water.
- Everything in LSA/FFA to be up to date(Inspection date)
- Hose pressure test done as required(every 3 months)
- Drills(Weekly)
- LSA/FFA(Weekly)
- Fire Ext./SOPEP/EEBD/SCBA/ISPS(Helmet and Kevlar
vest)/CHEMICAL SUITS – Monthly Inspection
- Do Familiarization on every crew change
- Marpol Fam. – every 3 months
- Check Muster List and change accordingly
- Replace crew list before every port and also put
stowage plan and MSDS in Fire Plans
- Lifeboat safety systems to be in good shape
- Lifeboat O2 system to have good pressure(above 145)
- During Watch when approaching land( every 5 minutes
Manual Position Bearing/Distance)
- Turn on Echo Sounder Printer when the depth is under
50m
- Switch the loch on ground and on underkeel distance
mode when approaching land and at small depths
1. In port(on arrival):
- Switch the Vhf On Low and Turn Off The DSC MF/HF
- Turn on the dangerous cargo light
- Change the ais to moored
- Turn off the radars
- Turn off the echo printer and the course recorder after
“All fast”
- Turn off the course recorder
- Close the doors

2. In port(on departure) – reversed & turn on the


echosounder printer before commence unmooring

3. At anchor
- Turn on the anchor lights
- Insert anchor watch in ecdis
- Anchor watch in the radar
- Drop marks in the radar on land
- Turn off echosounder printer
- Make compass error once every watch
- Turn on the deck lights at night

4. Bell Book
- Echosounder printer always write before commence
unmooring - ON & and after All made fast - OFF
5. Before Arrival/Departure
- Prepare the bridge as per checklist – check steering
gear with both pumps on
- Check every navigational equipment to be
operational
- Check gyro, rpm and rudder repeaters from the
wings
- Speed loch to be set on ground and
underkeelclearance mode
- Underway make Bearing/Distance positions every 5
minutes

Recharge SCBA after every fire drill and record the


date at the recharging compressor

SCBA what to check: check the pressure – should be


the pressure indicated on the scba(ussualy 200 bar)
- check that the whistle(alarm) is working properly

EEBD – check pressure everytime(should be o green


area)

CHECK EVERY INVENTORY THAT YOU HAVE,


INSECTION DATES AND EXPIRATIONS DATES !!!

Check flag inventory for the next port every time


before departure

FOR CARGO OPERATION:


- Check everytime the maximum loading/discharging
rate and calculate how many tanks you can
load/discharge
- Check that the pv’s are working properly
- At discharging check how many powerpacks do you
need for how many set of pumps(everything you
need should be posted in CCR) – for pump
consumption is hydraulic oil/min
- Check the tank pressures not to be to low(pv= -35
mbar) or to high(pv=200 mbar)
- For switching the tanks – always open the next
tanks and after that close the present tanks
- When operating framo pumps – when start
discharging first turn on the pump at low pressure
and after that open the discharge valve.After
opening the discharge valve, the pressure can be
increased.
- When stripping a set of tanks – lower the pressure
for all tanks working at that moment until finishing
stripping
- For loading – besides drop valve you can use also
the discharge valve to load more cargo into a COT
