Submission Instructions:

1. Complete an Assignment Submission Form ensuring that you enter your correct ID number.
2. Submit TWO IDENTICAL HARD COPIES of the assignment.
3. You are also required to submit an identical copy through Turnitin. A submission point will be
set up for you.
4. You are reminded that it is your responsibility to keep both an electronic and a hard copy of your
assignment for future reference. You may be required to produce a copy of your assignment.
5. You are reminded of the University’s regulations on cheating and plagiarism. In submitting your
assignment you are acknowledging that you have read and understood these regulations.
6. Late submission within 2 weeks of the deadline will result in the mark for the assignment being capped
at 40%. Beyond two weeks the work will not be marked.

Instructions to Students:

COPY through Turnitin.

The work should be presented in accordance with the format laid down in the 2018-2019 project
handbook.

Request guidance from your supervisor if you are unsure about the correct format for submission.

This assignment tests the following Learning Outcomes for the module:

 Critically review and analyse literature pertaining to the topic area chosen
 Critically evaluate a range of research methods and apply appropriate research techniques for the
collection and analysis of information
 Critically analyse findings in relation to theories and concepts and present a report with a set of
evaluative conclusions and recommendations based on the findings of the research

The Assignment Task:

Produce a 10,000-word (+/-10%) research project based on: identifying a relevant research problem;
formulating clear aims; collecting relevant data; analysing and interpreting data; and writing a research report
that adopts the required format.

Assessment Criteria

Your research project should demonstrate that you are able to:

 Design and conduct an original research investigation on a clearly defined topic of your choice

 Identify key concepts

 Clarify the problem and focus on a specific issue

 Review and analyse existing literature on the topic

 Formulate and test a hypothesis, or frame a research question

 Make use of appropriate research tools to collect and analyse data

 Identify ethical issues in relation to data collection and how these have been dealt with

 Evaluate and collate the information obtained

 Discuss your findings in detail and draw appropriate conclusions

 Communicate your findings in an appropriate written format

 Suggest ideas for further research on the particular issue
