ABSTRACT

This study focused on the Parental Involvement on The Adolescent’s


Career Choice of Students in Laguna State Polytechnic University.

The purpose of this study is to determine the perception on the parental


involvement on the adolescent’s career choice in Laguna State Polytechnic
University. This study sought to answer the following questions: 1. What is the
profile of the respondents as to: Age, Gender?, 2. Is there a significant
relationship between the parental background and to the adolescent’s career
choice in terms of: Educational Attainment, Family Income, Civil Status,
Occupation ?, 3. What is the mean perception between the parental background
as to the adolescent’s career choice in terms of : Decision Making, Academic
Achievement, Behavior?

The sources of data in this study were the profile of the students, parental
backgrounds and the adolescent’s career choice. It is a descriptive correlation
study which used survey questionnaire as the instruments of the study.

The study involved one hundred (100) random senior high school students
of Laguna State Polytechnic University.

The following are the salient findings of the study:

The correlation between the respondents’ parent’s educational attainment


and their decision making has no significant relationship.

The correlation between the respondents’ family income and their decision
making has no significant relationship.

The correlation between the respondents’ parent’s civil status and their
decision making has no significant relationship.

The correlation between the respondents’ mother’s occupation and their


decision making has no significant relationship.

decision has no significant relationship.

The correlation between the respondents’ parent’s educational attainment


and their academic achievement has no significant relationship.

The correlation between the respondents’ family income and their


academic achievement has no significant relationship

The correlation between the respondents’ parent’s civil status and their
academic achievement has no significant relationship

The correlation between the respondents’ mothers’ occupation and their


academic achievement has no significant relationship

The correlation between the respondents’ fathers’ occupation and their


academic achievement has no significant relationship

and their behavior has no significant relationship.
